more a ... でも more of a ... でも使用可能ですが、ニュアンスは変わります。 moreは副詞として疲れているので、まず取っ払って意味を確認します。 It was a painful plea. それは、つらい懇願だった。 painful, pleaは文脈で適切な訳が決まるのでここではとりあえずでご容赦ください。 It was of a painful plea. それは、つらい懇願についての事であった。 「つらい懇願」vs．「つらい懇願に対しての事」 それに more ～ thanを加えれば、ぞれぞれの意味のニュアンスの違いがわかると思います。

more A than B rather A than B A rather than B いずれも B というよりむしろA の意味ですが、 A と B が名詞の場合は more of a ... としてもいいです。 ただし、a がつくような可算名詞に限られます。

お世話になります。 likeを使って 「・・・より～の方が好きだ」という言う場合に like ～better than ・・・ like ～more than ・・・ の言い方があり、両方使うことは分かるのですが、 この２つのニュアンスの違いが分かりません。 以前、外国の方に聞いたときには 同じような使い方をするが、ニュアンスが異なるような ことを言っていました。 この２つのニュアンスの違いについて教えてください。 よろしくお願いします。
