次の英文の和訳を至急お願いします>< In japan, businesses like to foster team spirit,so workers are encouraged to go out together to eat and drink.Students or groups of friend like to do things with large numbers of their friends not only because they find it more fun.It may seem curious to Americans, but we feel that there is a lot of freedom in groups. We can blow off steam, drink a little too much, and someone is there to take care of us.Plus, within groups, women and man are freer of social restrictions that would hinder them if they were alone. Japan is a small country with a large population. Our whole social mechanism is set up to swiftly and efficiently handle large groups. It works for us.

One of the most interesting and yet underexamined processes in bulimia is the acquisition of bulimic behavior, particularly binge eating. The few studies that have looked at this problem have focused almost exclusively on particular social groups, for example, dance camps and athletic teams. This focus is not an accident. I wish to argue that social groups are at the very heart of the issue of symptom acquisition. Symptoms are spread from one member to another in these groups, and group membership is at the heart of the transmission. Groups that are most likely to transmit the symptoms of bulimia, most notably binge eating, are groups that are made up almost entirely of women of the same age. This includes dance camps and athletic teams as well as sororities, all-women dormitories, or workplaces comprising mostly women. Social groups are important to us. They serve to tell us who we are, what to think, and how to behave. The more we value the social group, the more we are willing to be influenced by it. The power of a group may be measured by the attractiveness of the group for its members, lf a person wants to stay in a group, he will be susceptible to influences coming from the group, and he will be willing to conform to the rules which the group sets up."

It is the use we make of the powers entrusted to us, which constitutes our only just claim to respect. He who employs his one talent aright is as much to be honored as he to whom ten talents have been given. There is really no more personal merit attaching to the possession of superior intellectual powers than there is in the succession to a large estate. How are those powers used how is that estate employed? The mind may accumulate large stores of knowledge without any useful purpose; but the knowledge must be allied to goodness and wisdom, and embodied in upright character, otherwise it is naught.

It is salutary to realize the fundamental isolation of the individual mind. We have no certain knowledge of any consciousness but our own. We can only know the world through our own personality. Because the behaviour of others is similar to our own, we suppose that they are like us; it is a shock to discover that they are not. As i grow older I am more and more amazed to discover how great are the differences between one man and another. I am not far from believing that everyone is unique.

本当に困っているので、助けてくださいm(__)m Greetings, Meals, other social routines ― they may not seem very big matters in themselves, but they remind us, once again, that using language is a social act, and dictionaries and grammar books are inadequate guides to performing social acts! And besides learning how to behave well, linguistically, we must also learn to avoid behaving badly. We do not normally want to cause offence, by the things we say, or the way we say them. Can you ask your host family how old they are, or how much money they earn? What counts as swearing, what is considered obscene? Things that we must avoid talking about are known as “taboo” subjects, words not to be uttered are “taboo” words. All these matters vary from society to society, and it is part of your jobs learners to find out the local rules. I’d like to give you an example of the sort of cross-cultural misunderstanding that can occur as result of language used by a non-native speaker who is not aware of the rules. South Asian languages do not have a commonly used word for “please”. A native speaker of English would make a polite request by saying “Would you do this please?” A speaker of a South Asian language, resident in England, speaking English but influenced by pattern of their own language, would make the same request by saying “Do this”.

When they visit a home in the United States, they are accustomed to being asked qustions like "We ha ve Coke, Sprite, ice tea, beer, amd orange, cranberry, or apple juice. What would you like?" They may even be told, "There are all kinds of drinks in the fridge. Heip yourself to whatever you want." It is polite and considerate in the United States to give guests maximum choice and freedom. This is the opposite of the Japanese form of politeness, which anticipates the wished of the guests before they have to ask for anything.

Societies which recognize that pacta sunt servanda among their own members,do not find it difficult to recognize the advantages of fulfilling obligations and contacts in dealings with individuals and groups in different societies. The fact that all societies appear to recognize that there is an obligation to fulfil contacts, alongwith prudential advantage in fulfilling them (just as,it is often argued, they all recognize rules that limit violence among their members and enjoin respect for rights of property) provides a basis for the extension of the principle of the sanctity of contracts beyond the bounds of particular societies.

It may seem odd to say this , but whatever your view of the discussion in this chapter, it should ve clear that design is not simp;y a visual medium; it is a social and, as we have identified, a political one. It just happens to be most apparent visually in the messages sent to us by commerce, media and government, and the subtler but equally important messages we send each other in our everyday practices. Like an iceberg, 90 per cent of visual communication is hidden beneath the surface. And, just like an iceberg, it is the invisible 90 per cent that provides the raw power of visual communication. So, there we end this overview of some of the key ideas that are involved in the study and under standing of visual communication and its relationship with design. Undoubtedly, like some of the practitioners interviewed for the book, you will disagree with some of it. Hopefully some of it will have challenged your own positon on this subject.

It is harder still to describe in words. Your soul mate washes frequently, and his odious and fragrance will not be strong, but the subtle nuances of them are a warmth, like cloth. He smells of shampoo, and faintly fragrant and like hair styling products, and there is a subtle undertone of oiliness, cooking oils and toasted and fried things. soap, faintly of burnt things, and tomatoes and cheese or pizza, There is a fragrance of mingled things,. These odours are so faint you hardly smell them, you more feel it, you know when he is there, like the difference between him and an empty space, but the subtle difference in air is uniquely his own. The strongest parts for detecting this smell are the region of his hair and collar.. The cloth and cooking smell is the undertone, the lower note or less pleasant background of his perfume. and the shampoo and hair styling products, stronger like a cloaking smell but they are both so fine and subtle that it is hard to detect these things
