写真集の奥付の翻訳を頼まれ、困っています。 編集:(人名)、(人名) 協力:(会社名)、(会社名)、(団体名)他、多数の方にご協力頂きました。誌面をもってお礼を申し上げます。 これを Edited by: (personal name), (personal name) Assisted by: (company name), (company name), (organization name), and many collaborators. I really appreciate for their help. と訳してみたのですが、気掛かりな点があります。 ・「他、多数の方にご協力頂きました」を"and many collaborators"とすると、ニュアンスが変わらないでしょうか。特に、"collaborator"は「作品の共同制作者」というような意味にならないでしょうか。 ちなみに、この「ご協力頂きました」は、資金や製本等の面での協力で、写真の撮影・プリントは撮影者本人がひとりでやっています。 ・「誌面をもって」の適当な訳がわかりません。 以上、よろしくお願いいたします。

こんばんは。私の見るのは、生物学関係の図鑑や学術書、一般書です。こういった書物ではしばしば、謝辞Acknowledgementsという項目に、1ページとか2ページ使われていることがよくあります。 多くの場合、一人一人または会社名をあげて、この人にこういうことで助けてもらったと書いてあります。 名前を挙げる人と挙げない人がある場合、日本語では最初に重要な方の名前を挙げて「他、多数の方に・・」という風にするでしょうが、英語のものではしばしば「非常に多くの方が、・・・において助けてくれた。中でも誰それは・・を助けてくれ、誰それは・・・を助けてくれた」という風に、最初に名前を挙げずに全体を説明し、あとで特に名前を挙げる方法が取られるように思われます。「多くの人が助けてくれた。全部の名前を挙げることはできないが、my special thanks goes to 誰それ、who kindly .... .」というのも良くあるパターンと思います。 たとえば、（この例は3人の共著の本です。special thanksは出てきません） Many have helped us during the many years of work; without unselfish friends we could not have produced the book. We cannot list them all, but a few must be mentioned. All three of us have ... received help and good advice from ..., ..., and ... . A hearty thanks to them all. ... ,..., and ... assisted ... with good advice and picture references. ... and ... helped ... in a corresponding way. ... wishes to give credit to ... , who indirectly has contributed much to the quality of the text through his deep knowledge and sound judgement, which.... .　(Mullarney, K. et al. 1999. Harper Collins Publishers) というような感じです。謝辞でCollaboratorsという表現を見たことがありません。おおむね、誰それ（またはどこそこ社）は何々において助けてくれた、と具体的に書いてある例が多いと思います。「誌面をもって」という表現は英語では見たことがないですが。「ここに(here)名前を挙げる」というような表現をすれば同じような意味になるでしょう。 洋書を売っている書店で何冊か立ち読みされればいろいろの例がいくらでも出ていると思います。文学書はともかく、多少堅い本には謝辞が出ているものが非常に多いと思います。
