Either 答えは A でした 調べたら whether は接続詞, 疑問の要素が含まれる eitherは形容詞,副詞ということまでは分かったのですが Eitherでもおかしくない気がするのですが なぜEitherではだめなのでしょうか。

＞Eitherでもおかしくない気がするのですが なぜEitherではだめなのでしょうか。 ⇒Eitherが接続詞として用いられることはありますので、 Eitherでも大丈夫だと思います。ニュアンスが少し違ってくるくらいです。 ・Whether ～ or …：「～であろうと…であろうと」。つまり、「どちらであろうと○○する」といったニュアンスです。 ・Either ～ or …：「～か…かとしても」。つまり、「両方ではないとしても（それにかかわらず）○○する」といったニュアンスです。

意味は同じでも使い方が違います。 whetherを辞書で引いてみてください。意味の前に「接」という文字がありませんか？これは「このwhetherは接続詞として扱う」という意味です。そしてeitherを引くと「副」＝副詞、あるいは「形」＝形容詞、または「代」＝代名詞、という表記がされているはずです。 「接続詞」はその名の通り、2つの文を「接続＝つなぐ」ためのものなので、接続詞のあとには主語＋動詞～という形があるのが普通です。

osaka5963 様、 ご返信ありがとうございます。 Whether が接続詞 Eitherが副詞、形容詞という部分は理解しているのですが、 Eitherがなぜだめなのかという部分がしっくりとこなかったので質問させて頂きました。

(1)まず、はじめのAsはどういうAsなのでしょうか。 接続詞ということは分かるのですが、"～ので"や、"～すると"と訳すとどうしても変な訳になってしまいます。 (2)knowing whether or not ～ 以下はどういう構造になっているか、分からないので訳し方も困っています。 無理やり訳そうと思うと knowing whether or not (？？？) North Company is really a good career move (ノース社は本当によいキャリアを進ませるかどうか？) for you. (貴方にとって) となってしまい、問題集の訳にたどり着けません。 この一文の訳し方、分かる方いらしたら教えてください。
