こんにちは。 はじめて質問させていただきます。 英語に関する表現の質問なのですが、ネイティブのフランス人の英語表現が、友達としての表現なのか恋愛感情があるのかどちらなのかを知りたいです。 その方と友達になったのはつい最近で、文通団体を通しての出会いでした。まだ２回ほどしかメール交換をしていないのですが、今回来たメールの返事がちょっと気になる表現だったのでどなたか教えていただけると助かります。 まず、メールをくれてありがとうという表現があって前回、私の推薦した本を読んでみた感想とともに以下の表現がありました。 I thought about you a lot while reading it. I mean, what you like or love is , in a way, a part of yourself． 私、個人としては友達にI think about you a lotとは使いません。彼は、誠実で真面目な方だなと印象を受けていますのでこの言葉が気になってしまいました。 また、文の終わりにAnother question I have is : You might have received a lot of mails after you put your message on the internet, why did you choose to write to me? Am I the first penpal you have? Or maybe I am wrong, you are writing to several penpals at the same time?という質問をされました。友達でいいのなら何人の方と文通を楽しもうが、メールをしていようが関係ないと思うのですがどうでしょうか？もしも、この文章から彼が恋愛感情を持っているとわかれば今後の彼への対応も考えなければならないのでさまざまなご意見をうかがえたらと思います。

確かにI thought of youという言葉は男女間で多くつかわれると思います。ただし文字通りの意味で使うことはありうると思います。つまり I thought of you when I saw a ape in a zoo. I am not kidding.. 恋人同士であれば私なら、 I am thinking of you while I am alone here in ..... お読みした英文からあなたの関心を引こうとしていることはわかります。それで気になっておられると思います。その中にまた少しあなたに関心がありますという気持ちも入っているかもしれません。ただし書かれている方がフランス人ということですので、ネイティブの感覚と異なるということも頭の隅に入れておく必要があると思います。 しばらくは女性の友人にあるいは自分の兄や弟に書くようなメールを交換して、その間に人柄と意向をご確認された方がよろしいかと存じます。

How do you stand the hardest part of running marathon? Many say that life is like marathon. Do you think that you can deal with the crisis in your life thanks to marathon? By the way corresponding with penpals, the reason I feel like I have difficulty writing is not because of my English. It is because the moment I cannot come up with anything I have to reply. Honestly speaking I am not a talkative person, but I try to talk more when writing. Nice and slow conversations are hard to come by, and the form of letter writing does put in a lot into thinking about what the other person has to say and how to respond. この二つが何となくはわかるのですが、自信がありません。教えていただけると助かります。

- イギリス人の恋愛表現について、又メールの微妙なニュアンスが知りたいのです
イギリス人の友人に貰ったメールです。 「Now I know houw you feel when you are waiting for an email from me.I keep looking at my phone and checking to see if you have replied....is it me?Have I done something wrong?Don't you want to email me?I am sorry keep mailing....it is just I am worried about you.」 この前に、来たメールがあります。仕事をしていて出られなかったほんの半日ほどの話です。 「Please e mail me!I am really worried!!!」 「Are you OK?I am at work and thinking of you.If you are OK,please e mail me.」 ちょっとトラブルがあり、それを彼に打ち明けてさよならした後に、何度かこういったメールが1時間おきに数件入りました。仕事をしていて返信できなかっただけなのですが、こんなに心配しているとは思わず、慌ててメールを返しましたが、正直言って彼が私の事をどう思っているのか良くわかりません。すきだとは言われたのですが、英語が不得意なので、詳しいニュアンスがわかりません。 それに、であって未だ2ヶ月なので、あまり彼のことも知らないし、普通に友達として飲みに行くくらいです。 「I am happy that you are happy.」 これも大体はわかるのですが、友達に毎日こんなこと言うのでしょうか？ニュアンスが良く分かりません。 それから一番分からないのが think の使い方なんです。 「This moment all I can think about is you.」 「I am thinking so much about you」 考えるって直訳すると？？？なんですが・・。 これも毎日のように届くので、なんだろうと思っています。 想うと言うのは分かるのですが、その重みが良く理解できません。

授業のシラバスを読んでいると、一番初めの授業のAssignment のところにPre-Assessmentと記載がされていました。 授業を受ける前にやってこいということなんだろうと思ったのですが、念の為、教授にメールで問い合わせました。 My name is 〇〇 and I’m a freshman from Japan. I am enrolled in your ‘XX’ class. I have a question about assignment. I have read the syllabus, but do I need to do Pre-Assessment by tomorrow? I am sorry to bother you about this kind of basic things. I would appreciate your help. ↑本文の内容です（始めと最後に教授の名前と私の名前を記載して送りました） するとその返信に You have until sept 1st to complete it と来ました。 他に特に文章などなく、この文のみが送られて来ました。 他の教授にもメールでやりとりしているのですが、こんな一文でメールが来たのは初めてです。 文章が失礼だったのでしょうか？（あまりにも素っ気ない感じがしてしまって…） それとも、教授によって返信の仕方が単に違うだけでしょうか？ あと、返信の内容に関しては、「Sept1はやってきて」ということで間違いないでしょうか？ よろしくお願いします。

このような簡単な回答で申し訳ないのですが今一 この意味をわからないです thing は 物ですよね？ a lot of things だと たくさんの物になるのでしょうか？？ ですが I have a lot of things to tell you だと私はあなたに話す事がたくさんあるですよね？ 物が入ってないのでどうゆう意味なのでしょうか？？

You know what? Long time no see you, don’t you think so? I wanted to see you,but I didn’t have enough time. Do you remember me? No? Sometimes I come to here. Last time I came to here....When was it? It was about 10days before. Then my dad got out of the hospital. Thank you, dad is getting better day by day! BTW, I love flowers very much! Last fall I planted a lot of bulbs, about 150 of tulips and daffodils.（この言い方では約150のチューリップと<数は、わからない＞水仙を植えたとなりますか？合わせて150のチューリップと水仙と言いたいのですが...）Now I can see their heads.(g) Everyday I say them in my heart “Good morning! I am waiting for your flowers will bloom , I love you!” In April I will see a lot of flowers of tulip and daffodil.(tulips and daffodilsとするのでしょうか？) 一生懸命書いてみました、語るかけるように書いたつもりですが、どうでしょうか？よろしくお願いいします。

cincinnati様 お返事ありがとうございます。確かに文字通りの意味ということもありますね。cincinnatiさんの例文は非常に理解しやすかったです。 そうですね。自分の感覚とネイティブの感覚とはかなり違うという意識で接したいと思います。 しばらくは、友達に書くような気軽なメールを交換して様子を見たいと思います。
