At a time in earlist infancyの所が分からないです。
下記の原文 At a time in earlist infancy when there was no perception of dependence,we were absolutely dependent. の所でinfancyは幼児期だからAt a timeを省略して、In earlist infancyで初めていい気がするのですがどうでしょう？ 元の原文だと時が２重になって、おかしい様な気がするのですが、どうでしょう？例えばこんな感じです。 依存の知覚が全く無かった最も幼い幼児期における一時に、我々は絶対的に依存していたのである。

英語の専門家が回答を下さるかもしれませんが、私にはおかしな英文には思えません。 「幼児期の初期、その中でも、ある一時期には」 ある一時期＜初期の幼児期＜全体の幼児期 という構図ではありませんかね。
