英語Eメールに関しての質問
I am writing to ask when it is the most convenient for you to have a meeting with me.と書いたら、ネイティブの方にthe mostの定冠詞、theをdeleteされました。この場合、やはりtheは必要なにのでしょうか。 御回答、お待ちしております。

はじめまして。 ご質問： ＜この場合、やはりtheは必要ないのでしょうか。＞ 必要ありません。 １．理由は、convenientが叙述用法で使われている形容詞だからです。 ２．形容詞には、補語として働く叙述用法と、名詞を修飾する限定用法があります。 ３．ご質問文はit is convenient「それは、便利で、ある」というSVCの第2文型で、convenientは補語Cとして、叙述用法になっています。 ４．叙述用法の最上級には定冠詞theは必要ないのです。 例： She is beautiful.（叙述用法） She is most beautiful in the city. She is a beautiful girl.（限定用法） She is the most beautiful girl in the city. ５．また、convenientやnecessaryといった「判断」を表す形容詞は、主に叙述用法で使われる形容詞です。従って、mostにtheのつかない語法が一般的なのです。 以上ご参考までに。

冠詞は名詞に付けるものです。この文に「the」が指すべき名詞はありません。ちなみに「convenient」は形容詞です。「I am writing to ask when it is the most convenient DATE for you to have a meeting with me.」なら問題ありません。ただし、「when it is most convenient for you」のほうがすっきりしますよね。

That doesn't make any sense, though. You say you didn't send me any e-mails because you didn't want to bother me when Erika was over. But then I am suppose to e-mail you everyday even though I have a friend over and I'm super busy? Isn't that more bothersome for me than receiving your e-mails? And you're not the only one sending e-mails >_> I always respond to you when I can.
