うーん、そのような日本語の雰囲気を英文にかもし出すには、ネイティブで文才がないとむずかしいと思います。が、こういった内容の英文化が一番英語力を求められる気がしますね。内容を自分なりに解釈して、受験英語育ち（？）のトライです。 Don't make excuses that you are handicapped or your family is poor. You are responsible for your own life, and whatever happens and the people you encounter, good or bad, will be the result of your actions and way of thinking. You should not complain about them. 日本語の感じがまったくないですな。ビジネスライクな英文になってしまって・・・ birdflewさん、「身から出た錆び」だと悪いことを示唆しますが、ここではいい面に関しても、という意味と思います。ぜひ、ネイティブの語感を入れた回答を期待してます。「自分から作りだした影」をliterally（？）に英訳して原文の意味（これとて私の解釈が間違っているかもしれませんが）を出すのは無理な感じを受けるのですが・・・

「あなたの良い点・悪い点は何ですか？」を英語にするとどうなるのでしょうか？ 直訳だと What is your good (or bad) point? でしょうけど、これってただの直訳ですよね。他には、What are some things that are good (bad) about yourself? とかを考えましたが、他にもっとしっくり来る良い方はありませんか？
