Gです。 ちょっと面白い現象がおきているのを書いてみますね。 今回のnot get～so farはA can get 人 only so far.という形をとっていますね。 そして、人が主語になると, 人 can get only so far.となります。 人 can not get too far.という表現にもなりますし、A can not get 人 too far.という表現にもなるのです。 受動態にはならないのに気がつきましたでしょうか。 モチベーションではこの表現を,人 has limited potentials.という表現で同じ事を言います。 例えば、大人になってもいつまでも大学生だと思っていると将来を期待されなくなり、自分の実力を高める要素はせっかくあっても誰も認めてくれないし実際に向上もしないよ、という説明の仕方をします。 先日黒帯のことを話しましたね。 いつまでも黒帯になったことを自慢していたら黒帯が泣くよ、そして、いつの間にか、黒帯を締めていないと黒帯だと感じてくれなくなり、立ち直るどころかもっとひどくなる、という事になるわけです。 ですから、黒帯の伝授されるときにNow you have started a long journey of Karate-doh.と言う事になるわけです。 先は見えなくても方向付けが出来た、と言う事になるわけですね。 つまり、どんなことがあっても、You will get far in your life.となり、有無を言わせぬ実力は時間の問題だけになるわけです。 つまり、流派の「流れ」に乗り、どんな壁に当たろうと大海にたどり着き、どんな流派を選んでも結局同じ大海で交じり合うことが出来るわけです。 池の中でいくらぎゃあぎゃあ言っても所詮、井の中の蛙、となり、reality will never set in and he will get only so far/he will not get very far in life.になるわけですね。 If he gets it, then he has a chance. But if he doesn't, then he has no chance.となり下手をすると人生でみっともないことをいつまでたってもすることになってしまうわけです。 ま、そんな人は普通いませんけど、そうならないようにみんな向上心を持とうとするわけです。 だから意味のないがんばりをしても何の価値もないわけです。 がんばるだけではなく、意味のある頑張りを出来る自分を作ることがそれだけ重要だとアメリカ人は（日本人もですけど）モチベーションの価値を認めるわけです。 そうすれば、Anybody can get as far as they want.となり、People with attitude problems will not get too far regardless they want otherwise or not.と言う事になるのですね。
