素直に聞くと I went to open the taxi door. タクシーのドアを開けにいったんだよ go to open the door を直訳すると「ドアをあけにいった」ですが、家に誰かが来たときに、ドアのところに行った人を述べる言い方（Dad went to open the door.）で使われますので、この映像の外人ビジネスマンは「タクシーのドアのところに行ったんだよ」みたいな感じで言ってるのじゃないでしょうか。

下記の英語の文章の文法？がよく分かりません。 ------------- So we just got into a taxi and asked, you know, "take us to broadway," figuring what taxi driver wouldn't know Broadway, right? だから、タクシーに乗って、運転手に「ブロードウェイまで」と言いました。 タクシー運転手なら誰でもブロードウェイを知っているものでしょう？ ------------- 分からないのが、文法的な話で、後半部分の figuringは、これは動名詞の主語なのでしょうか？ whatは文法的には何にあたるのでしょうか？ taxi driver wouldn't know Broadwayの時点で、 SVOができており、whatの置き換えるものが無いのではないんでしょうか？ 訳は置いておいて、例えば I figure what driver wouldn't know. 私はドライバーが何を知らないのかが分かる。 みたいに、broadwayの所がwhatなら分かるのですが、 Broadwayが入っている時点で、whatは要らない感じがしています。 そして、主語のIがないから、いきなり動名詞が来ているのもよく分かりません。 よろしくお願いします。
