1.If it had not been for severe competition, prices would have gone up. →( Without ) severe competition, prices would have gone up. もしはげしい競争がなければ、物価はあがっていただろう。 2.With a little more time, I could finish this job. →( If ) ( I ) ( had ) a little more time, I could finish this job. もうすこし時間があれば、この仕事を終えることが出来るのに。 (なお、もう少し時間があったら、終えることができたのにという場合は、 If I had had a little more time, I could have finished this job.となります。) 3.If there hadn't been a traffic accident, I could have arrived here much earlier. → There was a traffic accident; ( otherwise ) I could have arrived here much earlier. もし事故がなかったら、ここにもっとはやく着くことができたのに。 以上、ご参考になればと思います。
