It's almost two o'clock so we have only ten more minutes ( ). (1)at least (2)at most 正解は(2)でした。

People often feel that cats are staring at them. Perhaps this is because cats'eyesare very big. Compared to their body size, they have the biggest eyes of all mammals. They can see six times better in the dark than people can. Cat owners also find that their pets spend a lot of time sleeping. Both domestic and wild cats sleep for sixteen to twenty hours a day. Sometimes cats which are playing suddenly lie down and fall asleep. But they can wake up right away and be ready to chase their prey at any time. Cat owners love watching their cats play with a string or a ball. It's true that humans first tamed cats because they were useful. But today,we keep cats as pets because they have cute looks and mysterious personalities.

Suggest suitable progressions for two cadences in the following melody by indicating only one chord at each of the places marked A-E. You do not have to indicate the position of the chords, or to state which note is in the bass.

Chimps are smart, but humans are lot smarter. Until now, there have been two competing ideas to explain why. The general-intelligence theory says that our bigger and more complex brains give us an overall edge. The cultural-intelligence hypothesis, by contrast, says that humans have specific areas of intelligenve where we excel; our brains are not just bigger, but also better than those of our nearest evolutionary relatives.

True , there are a few examples of culturally learned traits in animals Female guppies pick the same mates as their peers, British swallows open milk bottles, and certain chimpanzees crack nuts with Stones or fish for termites with twigs. But these are the exception , not the rule , and fall far short of complexity and richness of human memes. Part of the reason for the difference is that humans have larger brains than animals、 allowing them to store more information and process it more quickly. {{An even more important distinction , however, has to do with our communication skill.}} しかしながら、よりいっそう重要な特徴は、伝達能力と関係がある。

If the marginal propensity to absorb is less than unity then a rise in income will raise the income to absorption ratio and so improve the current account. Whereas, if income were to fall this would raise the absorption to income ratio (as absorption would fall by less than income) which would worsen the current account. There are two important effects on income that need to be examined, the employment effect and the terms of trade effect.

Researchers have used gene therapy to restore colour vision in two adult monkeys that have been unable to distinguish between red and green hues since birth — raising the hope of curing colour blindness and other visual disorders in humans. "This is a truly amazing study," says András Komáromy, a vision researcher and veterinary ophthalmologist at the University of Pennsylvania in Philadelphia, who was not involved in the research. "If we can target gene expression specifically to cones [in humans] then this has a tremendous implication." About 1 in 12 men lack either the red- or the green-sensitive photoreceptor proteins that are normally present in the colour-sensing cells, or cones, of the retina, and so have red–green colour blindness. A similar condition affects all male squirrel monkeys (Saimiri sciureus), which naturally see the world in just two tones. The colour blindness in the monkeys arises because full colour vision requires two versions of the opsin gene, which is carried on the X chromosome. One version codes for a red-detecting photoreceptor, the other for a green-detecting photoreceptor. As male monkeys have only one X chromosome, they carry only one version of the gene and are inevitably red–green colour blind. A similar deficiency accounts for the most common form of dichromatic color blindness in humans. Fewer female monkeys suffer from the condition as they have two X chromosomes, and often carry both versions of the opsin gene.

We can play sports for longer hours. Last, we can enjoy fireworks at night. Watching fireworks is the best thing to do in summer. So I'm looking forward to the next summer vacation.
