アメリカに35年ちょっと住んでいる者です。 私なりに書かせてくださいね。 この文章には誤解を防ぐ為のキーワードがあります. それは何かというと,weとyouなんですね. なぜ,作者がこの二つを使い分けたのかを考えると,分かり易くなると思います. また、この二つのキーワードを理解すると,このwe imagineが,we tend to imagineと全く同じ使い方をしていると考えていいということになります. つまり,この二つのキーワードがあるからこそ,we tend to imagineと言う面倒臭い言い方をしなくてもいい事になります. つまり、この文章は, 高く達成した者は生まれつき偉大なものになる事が決まっているように(私たちは)思いがちだ. でも,もしそうだとしたら,なぜ、大きくなるにつれて、その生まれつきもった才能がある人には働き、他の人には全く消滅してしまうのか(あなたは)不思議だと思いませんか？ と言う日本語訳になるわけです. これでいかがでしょうか。 分かりにくい点がありましたら、補足質問してください。

英文の構造と解釈をご教授ください。 Human evolution has ensured that this will happen by providing for a brain of such extraordinary size that the head, if allowed to mature any further before birth, would make birth impossible---a brain, moreover, in which the speech areas are the last to reach their full development. ifの後に、wouldの前に the head が入って仮定法になるのかな？ とおもったんですが、the head allowed to matureでどう訳すんでしょう。 the head （was) allowed to matureという省略ということでしょうか。 ---後の名詞句も主文とどうつなげて訳せばいいのか疑問です。 「人類の進化が確かにしたのは もし頭が誕生前、さらに成長することができるなら、誕生を不可能なものにするだろうほどの異常な大きさの脳に備えることによって、この現象は起こるということだ。 更に、脳の中で言語野は、その十分な発達に及ぶ最後の部分である。」 文が長すぎて、日本語自体も良く分からない感じです。 もっと分かりやすくする方法ありましたら教えてください。 文法のレポートで、説明を求められているので、 文の構造も教えて頂きたいです。 よろしくお願いします。

Imagine looking through a door at a shoe in a tree with the sun shining on it. という文なのですが、 「ドアから、日が当っている木の中の靴を見ている状態を想像してごらんなさい。」という意味でしょうか。 最後のon it のitは靴なのか，木なのかよくわかりません。 よろしくお願いします。

こんにちはいつもお世話になっております。 pictureとimagineという語があります。英和辞書を引くとどちらも「想像する」です。英英では picture: to imagine sb/sth: to create an image of sb/sth in your mind. imagine: to form a picture in your mind of what sth might be like. ※OXFORD現代英英辞典より となっていますが、それでも両者の違いがよくわかりません。僕の考えではpicutureの想像の方がimagineのそれよりも、生き生きとしているような感じがします。が、確証はもちろんありません・・・。皆さんのお力を借りられたらと思っております。 ご回答はお時間のある時で結構です。よろしくお願いします。

He died when he was only thirty-one. この文の構造は一体どうなってるのでしょうか？最初It is idle to imagine～と始まるのですが仮主語でto以下を指しているまたはこの文は文の度中なので前に出てきてる何かを指してるのか、どちらにせよto以下で何故had he livedと倒置が起こってるのかwhatは何なのかわからないので構造がとれません・・・ よろしくお願いします。
