Gです。 ＞「Please send your travel details to ＸＸＸＸ so that she can arrange the accommodation.」 'ＸＸＸＸ’と言うのは女性の名前です。 これはどういうふうに解釈すればいいのでしょうか？。 必要なら４日の宿泊先をアレンジしてくれると言う事ですかね？。 これは、xxxxさんに（日本流に言うと、xxxxに）あなたの旅行の詳細（空港名～大きな年ですといくつも空港がありますので、飛行機便名ー到着/出発時間、そして、気をつけなくてはならないのは、パスポートに使われているあなたの名前）を知らせてください、so thatそうしたら、4日のホテルだけでなく送迎のアレンジが出来ますからしてください.と言う意味になります. ここは、あくまでも予約/手配のアレンジをするということで、費用を払うと言う事は必ずしもしていませんが、私は、仕事の関係で、毎年、日本の会社の代表として、international distributors/dealers meetingのいくつかに参加していますが、殆んどのメーカーが費用を払ってくれています. ただ、この文章では、それを言っていないと言う事です. なお、このパスポートに使われている名前を知らす、と言う事は、日本人（他の外国人も）の参加者の中には、通常、ニックネームでメールなどのやり取りをしていることが多く、この名前では、飛行機会社との確認が出来なくなるからなんですね. 普段は、George（譲二の変わりに） Tanakaで通っている人は、この名前では、乗客リストにのらなく、Jouji Tanakaになっている可能性があるからです. 特に今は、国内線でも、パスポートの名前が使われていないと、問題が起きます. このように、so thatを日本での標準的な訳し方をしなければ、全く問題のない、また、混乱する文章ではないのですね. AをすればBになる。と言う全く日常的に使われる英語です. つまり、文章を、耳に入ってくる順に、理解すれば良いわけです. アメリカ人はそうしているわけですなんですね. それを日本での標準的な訳仕方をすると、最後まで聞かなくでは分からないと言う、日常では使いにくい言い方になってしまいます. ですから、標準的な訳し方だけを頼りにしていると???となる例文としては、 Thank you for your offer but I have decided to stay one more day (until Nov. 06 to have a date with Ms. xxxx) so that please make an arrangement accordingly.もう一日いることにしました（ｘｘｘｘさんとデートをするために11/06まで）ので、それに合うようにアレンジしてください.と言う言い方が使える生きた英語で言えるわけです. ＜ｇ＞ ですから、so thatは、thereforeという少し堅苦しい言い方を避けた言い方といえるでしょうね. so that ～canと言う言い方がよく使われるので、日本の標準的な訳し方をしたほうが、分かり易い、日本語らしい、と言うだけに過ぎないのです. 予断ですが、このようなアレンジをするのは、結構International Sales Dept.の事務員がしますので、参加者とはメールのやり取りなどをして知っている人にさせる、と言うのが普通になっています. たぶん、hana7123さんもxxxxさんの事は知っていると思います. ＞子供が耳から言葉を覚えていくように、大人になっても耳から覚える（リスニングテープを聞き続ける。）事って意味あることでしょうか？。 私としては、やらないよりましだ、と言うレベルで奨励します. しかし、言葉と言う物は、文字や音だけではないんですね. 状況/相手との間がらなどと一緒になって違う表現や同じ表現でも違う言い方（イントネーション・アクセント・ポーズなど）でコミュニケーションをします. よって、耳に入ってくる音は確かに重要です、特に発音と言う意味では。 しかし、使える英語を習うには、DVDなどの機能をフルに使って、日常映画のビデオを使ったほうがより効果的と信じます. できるだけ、日本語の字幕をはずして見てください. 初め見たときに分からなくてもかまいません. そして、DVDから音声だけを取り出して、CDなりテープに録音して、それを、通勤時間などを使って、DVDで見た映像を思い浮かべながら、耳から覚える、と言うやり方もあります. そこで使われているジェスチャーや顔つきなんかも気をつけてみると、意味のあることをしていると感じる事ができると思います. そして、ある一定のジェスチャーが決まった意味を示している、と言う事も分かると思います. （だからこそ、家庭ゲームなどで、ジェスチャーゲームが成り立つわけです） 体全部でコミュニケーションしているわけです. テープだけでは、これが出来ないんですね. これでいかがでしょうか。 分かりにくい点がありましたら、また、補足質問してください。

Ｇさん、 大変ありがとうございます。いやぁ本当に感謝致します。 英語って、聞いた（見た）順に理解していけば言訳ですね。参考にさせて頂きます。 リスニングに拘りを持っているように思われるかもしれませんが、本当に外国の方が言っている事が分からない、と言うよりも聞こえないんです。日本語に訳そうと必死になっているので、単語を日本語に訳している間に次の単語を聞き逃しているのかも知れませんが。 通常のスピードの１／５くらいなら聞き取れると思うので、やはり英語に慣れるという意味でもリスニングは必要かなぁと思って聞いてみました。 それと、日本語と英語は言葉の周波数が違う、英語は高音域なのでそれに慣れる必要があるというような、嘘とも本当ともつかない話を耳にしたり目にしたりする事があります。 やっぱり、私のように馬鹿じゃ英語を身につける事は無理なのかなぁ？。
