「彼女はその国を（に）訪れた」は She visited the country. She visited to the country. She visited in the country. どれだと思いますか。 go to the country live in the country だけど， visit の場合は visit the country でいいのです。 visit the house visit him と同じ。 visit は SVO で使う。 I bought the book. という SVO が the book which I bought「私が買った本」 となるように， the country which she visited で 「彼女が訪れた国」 このように目的格の which や that でいい。 the country where she lives 「彼女が住んでいる国」 the country where she went 「彼女が行った国」 の場合は where になります。 live the country go the country とは言わないからです。 実際の英語では，特にアメリカでは visit in the country という言い方をしますし， visit there のように visit の後に「そこに」という 副詞がくることもありますので， where でも間違いとは言えないと思います。 しかし，昔からよく出る問題で，ここでもしばしば質問されています。 とにかく，visit が出てきたら目的格の which（ここでは that になっています） というのが受験のテクニックです。

こんばんは。 関係代名詞と関係副詞。 どれがそれでどうだとか基本は多分分かっていると思うのですが、 時々２つがごっちゃになってしまいます。 (1)We came to the point ( ) the road parted into two. 答えはwhereですが、私はwhichにしていしまいました。 (2)This is the restaurant ( ) I have long wanted to visit. 今度は逆にwhichなのにwhereって・・・ ２つをどう見分けて空欄補充（他の場合もそうですが）したらいいのでしょうか。 克服・攻略方法がありましたらお願いします。 また上記の英文に対する解説も待っています。

This is the place which I have long wanted to visit. The group of students visited the cottage where the great dramatist was born. この二つの文章において、1つ目のほうは、which、2つ目のほうは、whereで場所を指し示すとのことなのですが、両方場所を指しているのに、何故このような使い分けをするのかがよく分かりません。 いったい何故なのでしょうか？

We often go there. ↓ That is the museum where we often go. あるサイトの解説で1の文のthereは名詞なので関係代名詞whichを、2のthereは副詞なので関係副詞whereを用いて文を繋ぐとかかれていました ですが1の文のthereはなぜ名詞なのかよくわかりません 2の文のthereは動詞のgoを修飾しているから副詞と書かれていました ですが1の文のthereは動詞のvisitを修飾しているのではなくなぜ名詞なのですか?
