英語得意な方 教えてください！
英語得意な方 教えてください！ I wish I could make my charts look as good as yours. （表をあなたのみたいに上手に作成したいのですが。） 自分の表を「～みたいに」上手に作りたいのだから、 感じとしては分かるんですが、 make my charts の後が形容詞ではなく look(動詞？名詞？）が来るのは なぜなんでしょう？ 熟語なんでしょうか。

この make は使役動詞です。make+O+原形 の形で「Oに～させる」という意味になります。 make my charts look good で「私の表を良く見せる」 My charts look as good as yours.で「私の表はあなたのと同じくらい良く見える」 使役動詞 make の作る構文は S+V+O+C で O には原形がきます。 これらを組み合わせたものに I wish I could ... の仮定法で始まった形をとっています。 ちなみに I wish I could ... の仮定法にすると、「実際はできそうにないが・・・だといいな」という意味になりますから、消極的に響きます。I hope I can make my charts look as good as yours. とすると積極的な感じになります。

まずい直訳をすれば 「私は、私のチャートを貴方の（チャート）がよく見えるくらいに作れたらと願う」 は三重の構造を持っています。 大骨は wish が動詞で「私は願う」 中骨は、could make が動詞で「私が（こう）出来たら」 小骨は、look が動詞で「私のチャートが、貴方のチャート，と同じようによく見える」 「見える」という動詞がありますから、look が必要です。 look の後には、形容詞が来て look good 「よく見える」 look bad 「悪く見える」 look happy「幸福（そうに）見える，look anxious「心配そうな顔をする」look angry「目を三角にする」などという時があります。下記をご覧下さい。 http://eow.alc.co.jp/look/UTF-8/?pg=3

「I will make him do as I say」の訳は「彼に私の言うことを聞かせる」なんですが、do as I sayにあたる部分は補語になると思うんですよ。でもこれ辞書には載ってなくて、個人的には形容詞的な熟語なのかなぁって思うんですけど、はっきりしません。doって動詞の働きしかしないのに、ここではどういう風になってるのかよく分かんないです。だから、do as I sayはここでは名詞なのか、形容詞なのかとか、そこら辺を説明して貰えると嬉しいです。

i wish i could show the face with nothing but itself. (ありのままの顔を見せられたら良いのに。) という文を先生に見せたら下記のように直されてしまいました。 i wish i could show my face as it is. この文を歌詞に使いたいので、先生が書いた文だと少し 語数が足りず語呂があわなくなってしまいます。 同じ意味で他にどのような言い方があるでしょうか。 よろしくお願いします。

- 英語●不定詞の見分け方を教えてください
英語の不定詞で 副詞的用法と形容詞的用法の違いが全く分かりません。 先生には動詞を修飾するのが副詞的用法で 名詞を修飾するのが形容詞的用法と教わりました。 ですが副詞的用法の文の中にも形容詞的用法の文の中にも 動詞と名詞はあるわけで。。 I visited Nara to see my aunt . I have a lot of homework to do . どっちにも visit と have で動詞はあるし Nara と homework があって、その後に to がきています。 この２つが副詞的用法と形容詞的用法で違う理由が 理解できません。訳してみる分には なんとなくでいけますが、英文を書くとなると難しいです。 見分けるコツとか、あったら教えてください。 あと英語苦手なので分かりやすく教えてくれると嬉しいです。
