ウィズダム辞典の any の項目・if any に以下の記載があるのですが、これに関する質問です。 if ány ⑴もしあれば 《◆if there is ［are］ any ... の省略表現》 Correct errors if any. もし誤りがあれば訂正せよ 《◆Correct any errors. ともいう》. ⑵たとえあった［ある］としても 《◆話し手の疑いの気持ちを表し, 前にしばしば few, little, 時に関係形容詞の what がくる》 There is little（, ） if any（, ） difference between the two. 両者の間には, たとえあったとしてもほとんど違いはありません. 『時に関係形容詞のwhat がくる」、とありますが、どんな文章なのかイメージが掴めないです。 これは、例えば、 He wouldn’t eat up what little food ,if any, I would leave.などの文章のことをいっているのかどうか、自信がないです。 宜しくお願いします。

- 過去完了仮定法の文法解釈についての質問
雑誌The Economistで、下記のセンテンスがありました。 「If there had been, in the 1970s, a programme searching for unrecognised diseases in Africa then AIDS would have been noticed long before so many people had started dying from it.」 過去完了仮定法の文章だと思うのですが、条件節と主節のそれぞれの主語がいまいちよくわかりません。 何か省略されているでしょうか？ 基本的な質問ですが、教えていただけたら幸いです。

一応自分でも解いてみたのですが、答えに自信がないので解説をお願いします。 全て四択問題です。 1. Everything has been attempted in principle, but nothing much ( ) in practice. 1. accomplish 2. accomplishes 3. accomplished 4. accomplishing 私は 3．accomplished を選びました。 has been が前に省略されていて、完了形の受動態の形になるのかなぁと思いました。 3. If I were you という表現は過去でも現在でもIがyouということはあり得ないので、仮定法過去完了でもIf I had been youとは言わないと聞きました。それでは If I were a lion とか If I were rich(今も貧乏だとすると）という表現も仮定法過去完了の中で使うことができるのでしょうか。If I were you というのは慣用表現だから他の表現はだめだという意見もありますが。
