英文和訳＆aboutの用法

＞戦後のワイマール共和国の民主憲法は、ドイツ人に巨大な服が小さい人に合うのと同じ様な合い方だった。 ＞という意味ですよね？ そのとおりです。 直訳されたものを、自然な日本語にすると、 私ならば・・・、 ドイツ人にとって戦後のワイマール共和国の民主憲法は、 まるで（ほとんど）小人（こびと）に巨人の服を着せたような （不釣り合いな、不似合いな）ものだった。 とでもします。

ここでは、about がなくても意味はかわりません。 ですから、about を無視して、全体の訳を、 「なんとなくわかる」のであれば、 どのように、なんとなくわかっているのか、 書き出してみてください。 あとは、about を、as well as に「だいたい～くらい」と くっつければいいだけです。 「なんとなく全体の意味はわかる」のであれば・・・、ですが。

おそらく "about as large as"で、「～ぐらいの大きさである」 のような感じに解釈し、 戦後のワイマル共和政の民主議会は、ドイツの人にとっては、まるで小人が巨人の服を着るように適していなかった。 のような感じの訳でいいと思います。

簡単な文構造の英文ならすぐに日本語に和訳できるのですが少し複雑な英文だと和訳する問題でうまく自然な日本語に訳せません 英語のままなら理解できるのですが普段から英語のままで理解してるのでうまくできません どなたか下の英文を例として用いて自然な日本語に和訳する方法を教えていただけないでしょうか? It would seem that bright German or French people who have good English as well as their own language are really far better off and that the British, at any rate, are starting to realize. As I sit in front of my radio listening to music that is being broadcast from far distant station, I cannot help thinking of instuments called transmitters which make the waves that travel through space at a wonderful speed and bring voices of far away musicians to my ears.

すいません。辞書を引きなおすと、Tom Thumb…親指トム：（一般的に）小さい人と載っていましたので、 直訳すると、」 戦後のワイマール共和国の民主憲法は、ドイツ人に巨大な服が小さい人に合うのと同じ様な合い方だった。 という意味ですよね？
