日本で雨が多いことを友人に報告しました。
Sorry about the rainfall but nature must run its course right? こう答えてくれましたが 「雨量についてすみません、しかし、自然は正しく自然な経過をたどらなければなりません？」 意味がよくわかりません。どなたかおしえていただけないででょしょうか？

Of course, we can just buy dermatological ointments and sedatives at the drugstore, but there is something comforting about letting nature heal us. comforting・・なぐさめる、元気づける letting・・～させる heal・・治す but there isからの訳がなかなかうまくいきません。 単語の意味はあっていると思うのですが、日本語に訳してみるとなんだか変な文になってしまいます。よい和訳を教えてください。

文法に強い方、教えて下さい。 これまで助動詞のneedは、否定文や疑問文で使用されると教わってきました。しかし、以下のような文に出会いました： But there were two different views of how harsh a state of nature need be. 自分なりに「しかし、どの程度、自然状態が過酷でなくてはならないか、という点に関して二つの異なる見方がある」と訳してみました。この和訳自体もしっくりきてないのですが、もし正しいとするならば、 1) なぜ文法的にmustではなくneedなのか、 2) needという助動詞があることによって、どのように文意が変わるのか？ という疑問が湧きました。 どなたか、御教授をお願いします！
