和訳を教えてください。
Of course, we can just buy dermatological ointments and sedatives at the drugstore, but there is something comforting about letting nature heal us. comforting・・なぐさめる、元気づける letting・・～させる heal・・治す but there isからの訳がなかなかうまくいきません。 単語の意味はあっていると思うのですが、日本語に訳してみるとなんだか変な文になってしまいます。よい和訳を教えてください。

もちろん薬局で塗り薬や鎮静剤は買えるけれど、自然(ハーブ)に直してもらうほうがどこか心が安らぐものがある。（或いは、安らぐのではないだろうか。） 英文は疑問形ではないので、「のではないだろうか」は不要ですが、そうしたほうが自然な日本語になるような気がします。 前の文を読むと、letting nature heal us - 自然治癒に任せると言うより、ハーブを使って自然に直していくと言う意味のようですね。

皆さんsomething comfortingの訳で躓いているようですね。 "letting nature heel us"つまり自然が私たちを治すに任せる、「自然治癒に任せる」ということにはsomething comforting「なにか気分をよくする」ような面がある、といっているのです。 自然な日本語に意訳するなら、 「もちろん薬局で皮膚病用軟膏や鎮痛剤をすぐに買うことはできますが、自然治癒に任せてしまうことにはどこか気分のいい面があります。」ではいかがでしょうか。

回答ありがとうございます。参考にさせていただきます。自然治癒と comfortingをつなげるとなんだか変な日本語になってしまったのですが「なぐさめる」ではなく「気分をよくする」という意味にしたら日本語の意味もわかりやすいです。

前の方と大体同じですが、これはいかがでしょう。 もちろん、薬局へ行けば、皮膚病用の軟膏や鎮痛剤を 簡単に買うことができますが、なにかもっと楽に自然に私たちを治してくれるもの（癒してくれるもの）が があります。

我々は当然、薬局へ行けば皮膚病の軟膏や鎮痛剤などを簡単に買うことが出来るだろう。しかし、自然にはなにか我々の傷を癒すものがある。 前後に文章があるのであれば少しは分かるのですが・・・。 演習の問題としてはこの回答は有効ではありませんね。 すみません。

早速の回答ありがとうございます。 英語の授業で、一人一行ずつ訳をしていかなければいけないのです。 In Japan, grassroots awareness of herbs is growing. The major benefet of herbs is that theydo not have side effects.Of course～heal us. Could it be that we are actually uncovering secrets of ancient Mesopotamia?で終わりです。ハーブについての文です。

Of course, we don't have the largest brains around;but then,we'd expect elephants to have much larger brains than us, for cxactly the same reason that～. これはある参考書からの抜粋なのですが、その和訳として次のように載っています。 「もちろん、人の脳が地球上で最大という訳ではない。象は～だが、まさにそれと同じ理由で人よりずっと大きな脳を持つと言うことは想像に難しくないだろう。」 ここで、英文中のbut then が一見どこにも訳されていない、と感じたのですが、このbut thenは本来最初のOf course の前に来るものなのではないか、と思いました。なざなら、その前文が「現代人の脳と言えば、最初に思い浮かぶのがその大きさだ。」という内容だからです。 しかし、but thenがこのような形で出てきたのは初めてで、飽くまでその前が；で区切られているので、一人で決めつけるには自信が無かった為、ここに質問させて頂きました。 この解釈で合っているでしょうか？ 宜しくお願い致します。

こないだテストでだされたんですが和訳した回答を配ってくれませんでした。。。自分の訳があっているか知りたいのでだいたいで良いので和訳できる人がいたらよろしくお願いします。。。 You may wonder why Hawaiians are so eager to maintain their native language.
