  • 「Clinical Social Work with Maltreated Children and Their Families An Introduction to Practice」

Clinical Social Work with Maltreated Children and Their Families An Introduction to Practice 本文 The challenge to find and implement successful approaches to work with this difficult population still lies ahead of us. Although there is very little research on the outcome of treatment of abuse and neglect cases, the findings that are available are disappointing. It is not clear what models of clinical practice work with particular types of child maltreatment cases. Often practice approaches are dictated by the specific philosophy, bias, or expertise of the agency or practitioner rather than by systematic criteria. Collaboration among those involved in child maltreatment cases and coordination of services are fragmented.

Amelioration of the social conditions, attitudes, and pol-icies that contribute to child abuse and neglect has been stalled by other national priorities. Practitioners who struggle with these diffi-cult and disturbing cases receive little support. They feel alone and become overwhelmed and often “burned out.” There are no simple solutions to this grim state of affairs, but our clinical knowledge and experience do point to many positive directions. While work with maltreatment cases requires individualization, empathy, creativity, and flexibility, practitioners can benefit from a clinical practice per-spective that provides them with a framework for understanding and addressing the multifaceted needs of this population.

In much of the world, authority is not challenged, either out of respect or out of fear, and, sometimes because a hierarchy of rank has been fixed for so long that people have been trained for generations never to challenge it. In such countries children are not expected to question their teachers in school, and brilliant young scholars or inventive industrial geniuses are hampered in technical research because they hesitate to disagree with their "superiors." Clever researchers may be considered too young to have any right to present findings that contradict the knowledge and wisdom of their elders. The American is trained from childhood to question, analyze, search. "Go and look it up for yourself;’’ a child will be told. In many schools tasks are designed to stimulate the use of a wide range of materials. An assignment to "Write a paper on the world's supply of sugar," for example, will send even a young child in search of completely unfamiliar ideas. Even in the primary grades children are taught to use libraries and to search for new ideas. By the time they are 14, 15, or 16, many young scholars are making original and valuable contributions in all fields of science. Industry is so aware of this untouched resource that each year, through national competitions, it offers awards to teenagers in order to seek out (and later employ) young people with brilliant, inquiring minds.

なお、(1),(2) は構造はとれるのですが、(1)のfigured most や、unit、(2)のthe entire wave of consciousness や、 field of object を、どのような日本語にすればいいのかがわかりません。 **** The expression of "field of consciousness" has but recently come into vogue in the pcychological books. (1)Until quite lately the unit of mental life which figured most was the single "idea" , supported to be definitely outlined thing. (2)At present psycologist are tending, first, to admit that the actual unit is more propably the total mental states, the entire wave of consciousness or field of objest present to the thought at any time; and, second, to see that it is impossible to outline this wave, this field, with any difiniteness. (3)As out mental fields succeed one another, each has its centre of interest, around which the object of which we are less and less attentively conscious fade to a margin so faint that its limits are unassignable. Some fields are narrow fields and some are wide fields. (4)Usually when we have a wide field we rejoice, for we then see masses of truth together, and often get glimpses of relations which we divine rather than see, for they shoot beyond the field into still remotor regions of objectivity, regions which we seem rather to be about to percieve than to perceive actually. .

They have also theorized about the causes and consequences of people's behaving in individualistic and collectivist ways and discovered that people are typically both individualists and collectivists. The best states of individual and societal health are linked to the balance between these tendencies. Many problems of modernity can be linked to too much individualism, whereas a lack of human rights can be attributed to too much collectivism. Collectivism may be initially defined as a social pattern consisting of (a ) linked individuals who see themselves as parts of one or more collectives (family, co-workers, tribe, nation); are primarily motivated by the standards of, and duties imposed by, those collectives; are willing to give priority to the goals of these collectives over their own personal goals; and emphasize their connectedness to members of these collectives. One definition (b ) linked individuals of individualism is a social pattern that consists of who view themselves as independent of collectives; are primarily motivated by their own preferences, needs, rights, and the contracts they have established with others; give priority to their personal goals over the goals of others; and emphasize rational analyses of the advantages and disadvantages of associating with others. Why Chinese Mothers Are Superiorという記事です。 If the child comes home with a B on the test, some Western parents will still praise the child. Other Western parents will sit their child down and express disapproval, but they will be careful not to make their child feel inadequate or insecure, and they will not call their child "stupid," "worthless" or "a disgrace." Privately, the Western parents may worry that their child does not test well or have aptitude in the subject or that there is something wrong with the curriculum and possibly the whole school. If the child's grades do not improve, they may eventually schedule a meeting with the school principal to challenge the way the subject is being taught or to call into question the teacher's credentials. If a Chinese child gets a B—which would never happen—there would first be a screaming, hair-tearing explosion. The devastated Chinese mother would then get dozens, maybe hundreds of practice tests and work through them with her child for as long as it takes to get the grade up to an A. Chinese parents demand perfect grades because they believe that their child can get them. If their child doesn't get them, the Chinese parent assumes it's because the child didn't work hard enough. That's why the solution to substandard performance is always to excoriate, punish and shame the child. The Chinese parent believes that their child will be strong enough to take the shaming and to improve from it. (And when Chinese kids do excel, there is plenty of ego-inflating parental praise lavished in the privacy of the home.) Second, Chinese parents believe that their kids owe them everything. The reason for this is a little unclear, but it's probably a combination of Confucian filial piety and the fact that the parents have sacrificed and done so much for their children.

Years ago, I participated in the rescue of a child from bondage. Destiny (not her real name) was 13. She had been repeatedly raped by a pair of predators to "educate" her. Then, along with several other young girls, she was forced to sell herself to strangers. Each day, she woke to the threat of disfiguring brutality if she failed to bring in sufficient money that night. Later, it was reported that "pimps" had been arrested, and "a number of child prostitutes were taken into custody." What was wrong with calling Destiny a "child prostitute"? After all, she was a child, and she was engaged in prostitution. First, the word itself implies a judgment of character. Don't we call people who sell out their moral convictions in exchange for personal gain "whores"? More important, prostitution implies a willing exchange. Ultimately, the term "child prostitution" implies that little children are "seductive," that they "volunteer" to have sex with adults in exchange for cash (which, of course, the children never see).

Corona charging may be used for both conductive and non-conductive liquids as the droplets are charged by ionic bombardment. Triboelectrification is only effective for insulating liquids. However, conduction and induction charging are restricted to conductive and semi-conductive liquids. In both cases there is a charge flow within the liquid prior to breakup. Conduction and induction charging are often assumed to be synonymous, with the only difference being that in conduction charging the DC power supply contacts the liquid to be sprayed whereas in induction charging the DC power supply is connected to an induction electrode adjacent to the point of droplet breakup. In an ideal (i.e. well isolated from adjacent grounds) twoelectrode geometry, conduction and induction charging have the same electric field distribution except for a polarity difference. However, for a threeelectrode geometry, as commonly used in practice, conduction and induction charging are different in many respects such as the charging mechanism, electric field distribution, energy conversion and the effect of space charge. The aim of this paper is to clarify these differences theoretically and experimentally.
