approach to ～で「～への接近方法，アプローチ」 これは前置詞の to で「～へ」という普通の to です，不定詞の to でなく。 way to 原形で「～する方法」という表現でなく，この「～への」の意味があります。 approach は way と違って，「接近法」という意味でも根強くこの「～への」とともに用います。 動詞としての approach には他動詞用法もありますが， my first visit to ～のように，名詞 visit と同様，to 名詞です。 だから，「～すること」という場合は動名詞 ing 形を用いて to ～ing となります。 「しばしば」という意味が without ～部分にかかるからです。 子供たちは親の心配を自分のものにしてしまう，しばしば親の方が気づくことなく。 absorb という動詞については特に頻度の制限なく，あくまでも without ～の部分が「しばしば」

You may fill your life up with nothing else but him, and hope he does the same, but this is like crushing a rose or a finch, while grasping it too tightly in your hands. Love dies that way. You risk frightening him off by your intensity by you constant demands for his attention.
