こういう問題に出会いました。 He is the only one of my friends that (is , are) talented. 訳) 私の友人で才能があるのは彼だけだ。 この括弧の中のisとareの2つから適切なものを選ぶ問題なのですが… 私はareを選択したのですが答えはisでした。 なぜisと言えるのかがわかりません。 私は関係代名詞『that』の先行詞が『my friends』だと思ったので『are』を選択したのですが、 解答が『is』であるということは、正しくは先行詞は『the only one of my friends』となるということでよろしいのですよね？ でも『my firiends』を先行詞にして、『才能がある友達たち（my friends that are) talented）』の『たった1人（the only one of）』としても問題ないと思います。 でもそれを間違いとし、解答が『is』でなくてはならない理由はなんなのでしょうか？ どうぞよろしくお願い致します。

英語の問題で質問です。 I tried to talk a friend of mine out of getting married. （友人を説得して結婚しないようにさせようとした）。 という文なのですが、この a friend of mineというのがどうもひかっかるんです。 私の文法知識が間違っていなかったらいいんですが、my friendでいいと思うんです。 そもそも何故 mineなのかが気になります。mineというと私の所有物という意味合いが含まれていそうで、そうすると、まるで友人が自分の所有物であるかのように思えるんです。 質問としては、 □何故mineでいいのか。 □my friendではだめなのか。 です。 問題として書かれているものなので、間違いはないと思いますが、どうもおかしく感じます。 内容が拙く、不快な文章で申し訳ありません。ですが、お願いします。
