急に何言い出すのかと思った
とっさの一言で言い方がわからない表現があるのでよろしければ教えてください。 (1)突然予想外の発言（質問の場合が多いです）をしはじめた人に向かって 「えっ、急にどうしたの？」 「急に何言い出すのかと思ったら・・・」 こういう場面になるといつもWhat?!、Why do you ask?とか言うだけで終わってしまいます。 That took me by surprise! That's quite unexpected! とか考えてみたのですが、何だか違う気がするのですが・・・ (2)何かを言い当てられた時などに 「あ、ばれた？（笑）」 Does it show?、Can you tell?、How did you know?!とかでいいのでしょうか。

I'm barely trying to catch with your last question!! <g> チョット待てよ、そんなに急ぐなよ、それでなくとも、こっちは前の質問に追いつくのに大変なんだから！ Just a minute. Where did you come up with that question? チョット待った. なんでそんな質問が出て来るんだよ. この回答は、もしかしたら、的を射ていないかもしれません. (2)何かを言い当てられた時などに 「あ、ばれた？（笑）」 Does it show?、Can you tell?、How did you know?!はいいですよ. 他に、You must know me inside and out！俺の裏表全部知っているんだな How did you guess? なんで分かったの?分からないと思っていたつもりなのに.と言うフィーリングですね. Jack: Aren't you sleepy yet? まだ眠たくないの? Jackie: Horny Man, aren't you? またはYou, horny man!! エッチ!! Jack: So what are you waiting for? 分かっているなら、何を待っているんだよ! なんて言う状況も考えられますね. これでいいでしょうか。 分からない点がありましたら、補足質問してください。

(1)は、 What are you saying?（なにいってんだよ） とか What's wrong with you?（どうしたの？）とか 極端な態度をとるときは、 Do you know what you just said? とか (2)は、 How did you know?でいいんじゃないすか あとは、 How could you tell?とか 短いので Obvious?（見え見え？）

「私が何歳かわかりますか？」 この文を英訳すると “Do you know how old I am?” であって、“Do you understand how old I am?” ではありません。 しかし、これに対して、 “私が何歳かわかりますか？に対応する英語は "Do you know how old I am?"ではないですよ。 私が何歳か知ってますか？に対応するのが上の英語です。 「わかりますか？」というのは、私の外見から、つまり服装や顔つきなどから私の年をあてられますか？ ということです。知っていればあてる必要は無いですから。正しい英語は Can you tell how old I am? Can you figure out how old I am? などです。” という指摘をした人がおります。 でも、私は違和感を感じます。先ず、日本語では この場合「知っている」も「わかる」も殆ど同じ意味で互換性があり、日本人が普通に聞いて、とりわけ大きな違いを認識するとは思いません。 でも、逆に“Can you tell how old I am?”とか“Can you figure out how old I am?”とした方が原文の日本語の意味から少しズレるような気がします。 そこで質問です。これら、二つの英文にはどんなニュアンスがありますか？

間接疑問文が理解できません。 2つの英文を完成させる問題で、 (1)I want to know＋What happened to Devid? (2)Do you know＋Which bus goes to Seattle? (3)Please tell me＋When can you go shopping with me? (4)I don't know＋How did Dan get so much money? 上の4問全てそのまま2つの英文を繋げたらいいのではないかと思いましたが、それだとこの問題の意味がないですよね。 どこを変えて2つの英文を繋げたらいいのでしょうか？
