意味がよくわかりません。
こんにちは、 今回は"harry potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban"[UK版]に関してです。 P.24の上のあたりの文です。 "I won't have this namby-pamby, wishy-washy nonsense about not hitting people who deserve it." この文の意味がわからず、日本語訳を見てみると "ひっぱたかれて当然の子を叩かないなんで、腰抜け、腑抜け、間抜けもいいとこだ。" となっておりましたが、なぜこのような訳になるのかよくわかりません。 "about not hitting people who deserve it"は"ひっぱたかれて当然の子を叩かないことについて" となるのは、わかるのですが、 "won't have this namby-pamby, wishy-washy nonsense"は"この気弱な、優柔不断なばかげたことを持たないだろう"（？） の意味がよくわかりません。 どのように解釈すればよいのでしょうか？ 教えてください。 よろしくお願いします。

その英語表現の意味については、すでにご回答にあるとおりです。つまり、腰ぬけ呼ばわりされても仕方がないほど馬鹿げているから、許さない、というわけです。それがこの言葉の「意味」。 そして、なぜnamby-pamby, wishy-washyという表現を使っているかというと、「な～んび～ぱ～んび～うぃし～わっし～」という響きが面白いからです。それがこの言葉の「効果」。 日本語を読む読者に、その意味を伝えつつ、響きという効果も伝えるには、「こ～しぬけ、ま～ぬけ、ふ～ぬけも、い～とこ（だから許せない）」と読めるこの意訳がピッタリだと思います。

「優柔不断なばかげたことを持たない」 nonsense という名詞に人格を持たせた比喩，一種の擬人法ですね。 「なよなよしたような弱々しいばかげたという感情でなく， 断固としてばかげていると思う」

今日は残念なお知らせをあなたに言わなくてはいけません。 それは今年の短期留学についてなんですが、募集された人数が16人ぐらいでした。 でも今年の希望者は25人ぐらいいました。そう、１０人以上いけなくなるってことです。 だから去年短期留学をした人は今年は行けないということになってしまいました。 今年は誰かが行けなくなったりしない限りは行けないです。 まだ確実に行けないとは言い切れないですが、ほぼ今年は無理だと思います。 本当に楽しみにしてたのに残念です。 I have to tell you something not cool... this year 16 people had recruit for the short term abroad,but there is about 25 people who enter the name for this...that means over 10 people won't be able to go...so who went last year they can't abroad this year unless someone decide to not to go. I can't say that these people who abroaded are surely unable to go, but I think this is quite imposible... こんにちは！ HARRY POTTER and the Prisoner of Azkaban[UK版]のp.172真ん中あたりの文に関してです。 "'You can't know that, Potter,' said Professor McGonall, quite kindly, 'not until you've flown it, at any rate, ........' " という文で 質問1”「You can't know」と一度notを使って否定しているのにその後また「not until」とnotを使っているのはなぜでしょうか？意味的には最初の「You can't know」のnotだけで十分な気がします。” 質問2”「not until you've flown it」と現在完了形になっているのはなぜでしょうか？現在形、もしくはwillを使って未来形で表しては駄目なのでしょうか？” 教えてください。 よろしくお願いします。

この文の意味がわかりません。 A that it not prevent it. それを妨げないAという感じかな、とも思うのですが、 A that won't prevent it. とかなら納得できるのですが・・・ どういう意味なのでしょうか・・？？

It won't be long before～ (間もなく～するだろう) がありますが、 「間もなく久美は帰宅するだろう。」 問題集の解答英文をみると It will be not long before Kumi comes home. となってました。 It won't be long before～と It will be not long before～は won't＝will not 何が違うんですょうか。 問題集が間違ってるってことはありえますか?? 使い分けを知りたいです。 お願いします。
