はい。補足にお答えいたします。 日本語の「そのままのあなたが素敵よ」という意味は、 あなたは特にこれ以上自分を変えなくても、今のあなたが一番素敵ですよ。 （つまり何も変える必要はないですよ） という意味ですよね。 You are nice as you are. の意味は、 あなたは素敵ですよ、あなた自身のありのままに。 で、これ自体は良くとればよいのでしょうけど、意地悪く解釈すると、 あなたは、あなたなり、「それなり」には素敵ですよ。 見たいにも受け取れるので、元の日本語の言いたいことがキチンと表現されていないんですね。 なので、お勧めできないのです。

The problem comes when dealing with the other grandmother, especially when others are in the vicinity. I don't know whether it's because I am older than she is or what, but she always addresses me as "Gramma Mary," as in, "Gramma Mary, what would you like to do today?" I find this condescending, disrespectful and rude. First of all, I am not her grandmother. 「道が分からない時人に尋ねます。」 と 「道が分からなかった時人に尋ねます。」 とどちらの言い方もしますよね。 これらの訳を区別して行いたい場合どう表現すればいいのでしょうか? 前者は完了用法で後者は過去形となるのかと思いましたが knowは状態動詞なので完了形はおかしいですよね。 単に When I don't know the way,I ask it to a passer-by. When I didn't know the way,I ask it to a passer-by. となるのでしょうか? でも後者の時制がおかしいような。。。
