Gです。 では、私なりに、ちょっと時間がないので、簡単に書いてしまいますね。 ＞友達の車に乗せてもらっている時にその事故は起こった。*[乗せてもらっている時に] The accident happened when I got a lift in my friend's car. のせてもらっている時、という方は、give me a rideと言う言い方をします。 つまり、載せていってくれる、ということなんですね。 ですから、The accident happened when one of friends was giving me a ride. また、どこかへいく途中になんだけど、彼の車の中にいた時、というフィーリングでは、when we were in the car and on the way to xxx.といえますね。 ＞(車で,道が混んでいたらどうすると聞かれて） もしも私が他の行き方を知っていれば、違う道を通るだろう.*[仮定法の使い方] If I would know how to take another route I would go a different way. これは、構文を変える必要がありますね。 If I had known a different way, I would have taken it. つまり、違う道を知っていれば、その道をつかったっだろうに、という言い方をします。 >しかし、その道しか知らない時は、たとえ混雑していてもその道を通る。*[たとえ] But when I know only the way even if the road is croweded, I'll take the road. これをもう少し分かり易く書いて、If that is the only way I know, I will have to take that, even if the traffic is thick (crowded, busy, full). >そのままのあなたが素敵よ！*[そのままの] You are nice as it is.（太っている事を悩んでいる子に） 英語的（非日本語的）I like the way (that) you are.とかI like what you are.とか、日本の例文を使って、You are nice as you are. >その事故の相手はどんな人なの？*[相手] What sort of man is the other person of the accident? The problem comes when dealing with the other grandmother, especially when others are in the vicinity. I don't know whether it's because I am older than she is or what, but she always addresses me as "Gramma Mary," as in, "Gramma Mary, what would you like to do today?" I find this condescending, disrespectful and rude. First of all, I am not her grandmother. 「道が分からない時人に尋ねます。」 と 「道が分からなかった時人に尋ねます。」 とどちらの言い方もしますよね。 これらの訳を区別して行いたい場合どう表現すればいいのでしょうか? 前者は完了用法で後者は過去形となるのかと思いましたが knowは状態動詞なので完了形はおかしいですよね。 単に When I don't know the way,I ask it to a passer-by. When I didn't know the way,I ask it to a passer-by. となるのでしょうか? でも後者の時制がおかしいような。。。
