訳が取れないのでお願いします。 The woman I presume is his wife. 訳が「その女性が、彼の妻だとおもう。」 I presume that the woman is his wife って感じだと分かりやすいのですが・・・。 いま気づいたのですが１番上の例文は、私が思うに、その女性は彼の妻だとおもう。ってするとぴったりくるかも知れませんね。 でもこれでもちょっとおかしいところが、The woman... そのwomanとは私の推定している・・・という風にI presumeが修飾しているわけですから、私が推測しているその女性は彼の妻です。みたいになってしまいますよね・・・。細かいことですみません。 あと、Before I could be forgiven by God, the priest asked me to repent my sins. このrepentっていうのは自動詞なのに、なんで前置詞がついていないのでしょうか？
