ド素人です、、、、が、ある品質管理レポートに「at zero time」と出ておりました、意味は、一定の経過時間内に(例えば、貯蔵タンクに投入から一時間経過)、ある細菌がどのように増加していったか、を表示ずる時間系列の横軸の始まりは当然「ゼロ時間」ですが、その時(投入時点=ゼロ時間)から直ちにその細菌の発生が見られた、というケースです。 これからは推測ですが、上記の例から、製品が出来た時点でその欠陥は存在した、つまり、元々製造過程中に欠陥発生を誘因するモノがあり、何らかの理由で製品検査をくぐり抜け、出荷されてしまった、様な場合の感じがしますが、何せド素人の言うことですから全面的には信用しないでください(笑)

その文は英語の形をとっていますが、ベンダーが中国圏や韓国などの場合、その現地語で考えて英語化されていることが、おいおいにしてあります。 私は中国系（台湾含む）のベンダーとのつきあいが多いですが、英語がわからないとき彼らの言語（つまり中国語の漢字）がなにかを考えると、意味が通じることが多いです。 たぶん業界が異なるので断定できませんが、zero time がなにかの時間におけるゼロの時点、もしくは開始時点（あるいは終了時点）などと想定します。 またpresentは、「現在」の漢字がうかびますが、意味的にはcurrentまたはextant（現存または実存）の意味か、または提示（指し示す）であろうと感じます。 「その欠陥（欠陥症状、欠陥現象、欠陥品）は、時間ゼロ時点（なにかの時間におけるゼロの時点、もしくは開始時点、または終了時点）に見られる」 の意味から その欠陥は、時間ゼロ時点に見られる その欠陥は、時間ゼロ時点に発生する などの、発生に関する説明文に使われている英文に見えます。

そうです。 書いた人は「イタリア人」のようです。 一応、私は意訳して「その不具合は製造段階以前の問題に より発生した」と訳すことにしました。 製造を始めようとする時間（ゼロ時間）にすでに問題が あったということは日本語的には「最初からあった」という ニュアンスを感じました。 貴重な時間をさいていただきありがとうございました。

プリント基板の不良品報告書を英語にしています。 不良品の内容は、ねじ穴の位置ずれです。実際のねじ穴がプリント基板設計図から下方向に0.5mmずれていた。とい内容です。これを英語で表現するのに、misalignmentは正しいでしょうか。 The screw hole is misaligned 0.5ｍｍ under the one of PCB design. misalignment は配列、整列の違いという意味合いで使いそうなので、 The screw hole is placed at a 0.5mm lower position from the one of PCB design. のほうがよいでしょうか。 また、位置ずれによる不具合は、defect due to misalighent と、defect due to position error と、どちらが適切でしょうか。 よろしくお願します。

電子部品の品質管理の仕事をしているものです。 海外からの不良品への対応などを行っており、不良品が届くと、不良品解析→原因・対策調査→(8D)レポート作成というのが大まかな流れです。このレポート作成では、部品にヒビが入っていたとか、異物が付着していたという現状把握から、原因調査で設備のネジが緩んでいた、部品の交換頻度が適切でなかったなどの内容のレポートを書いています。しかし英語力がなく（TOEIC400点以下）、日本語なら１時間で書けるものでも英語では半日以上かかってしまいます。さらに内容がよく伝わってないことが多く、外人から質問が良く来ます。そこで勉強のために、このようなレポートを多く読んでみたいと思うのですが、インターネット上にも論文のようなものはなかなか見つからず、本屋にも置いてありません。キーワードで8D report, zero defectなどと思いますが上手くヒットしません。論文ならば大学に多く置いてあるという書き込みも良く見ますが、大学は非常に遠く、借りに行く・返しに行くを繰り返すのは大変そうです。インターネットでそのような論文や売っている本など知っていたら教えて下さい。

自動車部品のサブアッセンブリー業務を、手作業でしていますが、正規組立品ができず、クレーム発生します。 作業者がチェックしますが、不具合品が流出して顧客に迷惑をかける場合があります。 なにか、組立サンプルを記憶しておいて、以後の組立部品をそこへ通すだけで、組立不良を感知できるような、高価でない検査機器はないでしょうか？

(1)At first (2)For the first time (3)In the first (4)The first time 答えは(4)のThe first timeです。 (2)のFor the first timeを用いた場合、「私ははじめて彼にあった、彼はまだ大学生だった」と文章は成立すると思うのですが、ダメな理由はなんでしょうか。 カンマがあるから、副詞句のFor the first timeではなく、接続詞のThe first timeになると考えるのでしょうか。

詳しい説明ありがとうございます。大きなヒントになりました。そうですね。時間軸ゼロの地点で＝「最初の時点で」ですね。 そうすると、「当不具合は、製造工程中に起きたものではなく、使用した他社の部品等に問題があったなどの理由で、最初から問題が潜在していたものである。うちの守備範囲じゃないので、不具合品が流出してもやむをない」という意味にも成り得ますね。 ありがとうございました。
