基本的な質問です・・・
いつもお世話になっております。 参考書より【教えて!goo】に頼っております(笑) 漠然とした質問になってしまうかと思いますが、質問させていただきます。 *********************************************** (1)In some countries 【is】 negligible. (2)The UAE 【has】 the highest rates of all countries. (3)In several countries 【have】 less than 20 computers per 1000. 以上３つの文があると思いますが、 (1)は【are】がくるのでは？？ (2)は【have】がくるのでは?? (3)が【has】がくるのでは?? と疑問に思ってしまいます。 そこで、どのように区別し考えればいいのか教えてください♪ よろしくお願いします。 ***********************************************

こんにちは。 （１）は主語がthe number（using the Internet）＝「インターネットを使っている（人の）数」なので三人称単数に対応する【is】がきますね。 （３）もたぶん、主語はtheyとかの三人称複数になると思うので、【have】で良いと思いますよ。

文章として示してください。ほんとうにそれだけですか？ どうも前後を省きすぎで判断できないところがあります。 唯一、２だけははっきりしています。 The UAE has ... 「the UAE」は１つの国名であり「Japan, America, English..」などがそこにあるのと同じ。単数の主語です。

「～以内」という表現で within less than in とがあると思いますがどういうときに使い分けるのですか？ 薬を飲む というときに take some medicine と表現されてましたが、 take medicines じゃ駄目なんでしょうか？ プレゼントを買うっていうときも some present とされてましたし・・・ なぜ普通の複数じゃなく、someを用いるのですか？ どういう場合に使うのかを教えてください。
