■文中に潜む仮定法の見抜き方がわかりません■
下記英文において、would の使用理由に that created の中に含まれる 仮定法過去による仮定を受けるため、と説明がありました。 仮定法というのは if の中において用いられるのではないのでしょうか？ would と 過去形なんて腐るほど出てくると思います。それらは全部 仮定法過去とみなせるのでしょうか？助言お願いします。 Public libraries have a vital educational function. They must do all they can to show that books are an integral element in the full life, that they have something to offer to all men. The library that created the impression in the public mind that books and libraries were for some people but not for all would, in the long run, be a harmful, futile institution.

この英文は、 The library, if it created ..., would ... という意味あいですから、文法的には「仮定法過去」とみなせます。仮定法を使っている理由は、そうだとは言い切れないしそういう事実が確立しているのではないが、そうなってしまうんじゃないか、といった感じからです。 仮定法過去でもIf...の形にならない表現はいくらでもあります。 例えば、Taking a bus would be cheaper. (If you took a bus,it would be cheaper.) Do you need the money? I'd lend it to you. (If you need the money, I'd ...) would は他の注意すべき用法として助動詞用法がありますね。過去の習慣的行為（Iwould play baseball after school.)とか、「どうしても～しようとしなかった」（The door would not open.)など。また、丁寧・控えめな言い方（Would you .... That would be nice など）。 文法書では「仮定法」といってますが「仮定」というより、話者の「気持ちの感じ」をあらわす感じですね。 will/would でいえば、Will you do me a favor? より Would you do me a favor?の方が、丁寧、つまり、話者の「遠慮気味な気持ち」が現れています。これも一種の「仮定法」的な捕らえ方ができると思います。ですから、ずっと昔に, If I had been there, I could have helped you. の書き換え問題だと、 Because I was not there, I was not able to help you. が正解でしたが、この2文の意味合いはだいぶ違うと思います（今はこんな文法問題はもうないでしょうが？）。 英語国での生活（ビジネスを含め）ではwouldはよく出てきますね。この話者の「気持ち」「遠慮」「不確かなことに関すること」などの表現に関して。

とある問題で、途中からの抜粋ですが、 I began to lose weight at boarding school. By the time I went home, I could no longer stop dieting. Several times, I met boys I liked at parties, but I was not contacted afterwards, so I began to doubt myself and my attractiveness. Painfully thin though I was, I thought perhaps they would have liked me more if I were thinner. 最後のthey would have liked me more ～ で、仮定法過去と仮定法過去完了の混在なのですが、普通はif節の時制の方が古くて、帰結節が新しいというのはよくあることだと思います。 直訳すれば「今自分がもっと細ければ、あのときの男の子たちは私のことをもっと好きになっていてくれただろうに。」なんですけど・・・。 解釈としては、たとえば、「月が四角なら、行ってみて研究したのにと、大学の頃思ったよ。」のように、 I thought, when in college, that I would have visited the moon and researched it if it were cubic.（間違いがあれば添削してください） となって、「月が丸いのは不変の事実」だから、仮定法過去でしか表せないとなるのと同じように、 本文の彼女においても、「細くありたい」ということが「彼女の不変の習性である」ために、仮定法過去でしか表せないのかという解釈に落ち着いているのですが、そこまでしなくとも、仮定法過去完了の方が自然な気もします。 または、別の解釈があるのか、みなさんのお考えをいただきたいと思います。長くなりました・・・。

仮定法について気になることがあります。 I wonder if you'd like to come to our Thanksgiving party. という例文がありますが、もしこれを過去形にして、 I wondered if… I was wondered if… となったとき、if節以降の文は、 if you'd have liked to come to our Thanksgiving party. となるのでしょうか？ would like toのwouldは仮定法だと思うので、 If I had not have a plan, I would have gone to your party. の、主節の用法と同じような感じで過去形になるのでしょうか？ それか、would like toはもう仮定法は用いていますが、ひとつの熟語として考え、 いかなる場合もwould have liked toのように過去形にはせず常に would like toの現在形で使った方がいいでしょうか？ 気になったので回答お願いします。

「仮に君に娘がいたらと仮定してみてはどうだい？そうすれば、君も彼の気持ちがわかるようになるさ。」 という文章があったとします。 How about assuming that if you had a daughter? So that,you would get to understand what he feels. と英文を作ってみました。 「仮定してみては・・・」の部分をassumeを用いてみました。 そこでthat節の中のif文はhadにすべきか、haveにすべきか迷いましたが、hadにしたのですが、いかがでしょうか。 また「理解できるようになるさ」を get to understand としてみましたが、どうでしょうか。 さらにwouldをつける必要はなかったでしょうか。 宜しくお願いいたします。

お世話になります。 下記の文について If you took a trip to beijing in the past couple of days, you would not have liked what you saw. （北京を訪れたのなら、この数日間に、きっと好ましくない光景を目にしたことだろう） If you took a trip to bejing...、は, If you had taken a trip to beijing と仮定法過去完了になるべきではないのでしょうか。 もしくは、 you would not have liked what you saw を you would not like what you saw と仮定法過去になるのかなと思ったりもします。 nativeが話しているセリフでしたので、口語的にこういう言い回しもあるのか、単なる本人の間違いなのかがよくわかりません。。。 時制の感覚が混ざってしまい、混乱しております。ご説明していただけると大変うれしいです。 どうぞよろしくお願いいたします。

(もしあのとき奨学金をもらえていたら、今頃は２か月間アメリカで勉強していることになっただろうに。) この文章変ですよね？ 過去問の模範解答に例文として載っていたのですが、 Ｉｆ節と主節に時制のずれがあるのに、If節も主節も仮定法過去完了の文になっています。 本当はIf節は仮定法過去完了、主節は仮定法過去の文にしなければいけないのでは…？ どうしてこの文で正しいのかが分かりません。 どなたか教えて下さい！＞＜
