地球上で最も多い物質
ある百科事典（Oxford Children's Encyclopedia）で、 There is more oxygen on Earth than anything else. と書いてあったのですが、これって「酸素は地球上では他のどんな物質より多い」という意味ですよね？ 本当でしょうか...？

目的語がthanの中に含まれるってどういう事ですか？ there will be more people than the earth can support. この英文は 1.There will be many people. 2.The earth can support many people. の比較で、第二文のsupportの目的語になっているmany peopleがthanの中に含まれてるらしいです。 ・２のmany peopleが書略されていると考えるのでは無くて、１と２の文の形が違うから省略と考えるのは不可能だと言う理解でいいでしょうか？ ・この英文の載っている参考書には書いてなかったのですが、関係詞のthanと考えていいのでしょうか？

不定詞の勉強をしていたのですが、 What is more important than anything else is (to) think for yourself. という文は、カッコでくくったtoは省略可能と参考書にありました。 to不定詞のtoを省略するかしないかは、何か法則があるのでしょうか？

" 「あなたは驚くべきことを聞かせてくれた。 しかし、苦しみを受けている人々の話ほど驚くべきことはない。 度しがたい悲しみ以上に解きがたい謎はないのだ。」（結城浩訳） more marvellous than anything is the suffering of men and of women. の個所について ここは「苦しみを受けている人々の話は最も驚くべきことだ」と言っているように 感じるのですが the most marvellousという最上級を使って表現してしまうと読んだ時のニュアンスが違ってくるのでしょうか？ 作者がたまたまそう書いただけのことで、特別な意味合いはないのでしょうか？
