Operating aspects
英文監査からです。 Illegal acts by clients relates to operating aspects rather than accouting aspects. だいたいの意味は感じとしてわかるのですが、もう少し 正確に知りたいです。要するに、監査人は不正行為に関して経理書類に関するものであれば発見しやすいが、そうでないと難しいとの感じなのですが、 operating aspectsとaccouting aspectsをどのように解釈したらいいのでしょうか。

tabuk1さん、段段難しくなりますね。それにつれて前置きも長くなりそうです(汗;) 日本の会社で組織の大区分は管理部門とそれ以外に分けるのが普通です。管理部門という言葉は定着しているのですが、管理部門以外の方はいろいろな用語があります。さすがに最近では非管理部門というような無神経な用語を使うところはなくなったと思いますが、営業部門、業務部門、収益部門等が使われるのは聞いたことがあります。 さて、本題ですが、operatingというと管理部門以外の全体を指すのが一般的です。しかし、ここではaccountingと対比していると考えた方がいいと思います。「経理以外」とした方が分かりやすいかもしれません。 ご質問の文をこう訳してみました。 (監査を引受けた会社で)違法行為に関与するのは経理部門ではなく経理以外の部署である。

さすが、真打ですね。つまりこういうこですか。経理部門は違法行為にはまったく関与できないわけでないが、それよりも営業、資材などの他の部署で起こった不正の方が不正を発見しずらい。なぜなら経理部門は経理書類が身近にあるが、他の部署での不正は発見をトレ－スしずらい。
私も、特に、accoutingと対比される場合のoperatingは、回答No.1の方と同様、営業活動だと思います。ただ、日本語で営業活動と言うと、特に販売にかかわる業務を想像しがちですが、ここでいう営業活動は、もっと広い意味で、原材料の仕入れから、製品の製造、そして販売までの、一連の流れのことを指します。

前者は営業活動に関するもので、後者は会計や決算に関するものだと思います。 つまり、前者は販売や契約に関わることで、後者はそれを会計的に処理する際のことではないでしょうか。

いつもお世話になっております。先ほど質問させていただいた地球環境に関する英文でもう１つわからないことがあったので教えてください。 Over the next 50 years, the U.K. aims to cut its carbon dioxide output by 60％ from today's level, substantially more than is required by the Kyoto Protocol. carbon dioxide：二酸化炭素 Kyoto Protocol：京都議定書 という英文で、訳すと「今後50年で、英国は今日の水準から60％の程度にまで二酸化炭素の排出を削減しようとしており、これは京都議定書で要求されているよりもかなり多くの削減量なのです」となるはず（？）だと思うのですが、なぜ「more than is required by the Kyoto Protocol」となっているのかがわかりません。なぜ「more than amount of emission cuts required by the Kyoto Protocol」といったような感じではなく「more than」の後ろに受動態の不完全な文がきているのでしょうか？？ わかる方がおられましたら教えてください。よろしくお願いします。
