The institutions and traditions we are heirs to have been primarily formulated, structured and maintained by men, with their own vision and application of spirituality.とこのような文章があるんですが、ここの"vision and application of spirituality"はどう訳すべきでしょうか？"vision and application"に"spirituality"がかかっていると見るのが普通だと思うのですが、上手く訳せませんでした。もしお解かりになりましたら回答お願いいたします。

２日前に同じテキストの内容が質問されていたので、それも合わせて読んだ上での回答です。 限られた文脈の中ですが、やはりspiritualityという語は単なる「精神(spirit)」ではなく、もっと宗教的な意味を持って使われる単語だと思います。 the vision of spiritualityが意味するのは「神的なものに関する見方」ということで、命とは何か、人間の存在とは何か、等について、ある人が持っている宗教的な見解を指していると考えます。 the application of spiritualityは、神的なものを生活の中に取り入れる方法を指していると思われます。applicationというのは理屈を実践的な行動に移す、という語です。日々の暮らしの中で宗教の教えをどのように実践するか、例えば家族はどうあるべきか、男性と女性はどういう役割を担うべきかといったことを指しているのでしょう。 この文章が全体として言おうとしているのは、宗教的伝統の中にも男性の理屈や価値観が根底にあって、女性が宗教的なものを追及しようとする時に、そのような伝統にひっかかってしまう、ということだと思いました。 単に「男性優位の社会や文化の中の女性」の話としてしまうと、visionやapplicationの意味がうまく決まらなくなる、ということがこの問題の焦点なのだと思います。

はじめまして。どうぞよろしくお願いいたします。 「回答」とはおこがましいので「アドバイス」にとどめさせていただきます。 これだけの文から推察しますと、神との対比、のようなものが感じられます。つまり「人間界の諸制度や伝統は（神によって作られたものではなくて）人間自身が作ったものなのだ」ということではないでしょうか？vision は「考え」ではどうでしょうか。心の中の未来図、ということですね。 application of spirituality は「霊の力」と訳してみました。「精神力の適用」ではあまりにも直訳ですし、神との対比も感じられませんので。 そこで、この部分の訳は「自分自身の考えと霊の力でもって・・」というような感じです。 以上何かご参考になれば幸いです。
