ある参考書に以下の例文が掲載されていました。 She broke her promise to meet her boyfriend. 訳:彼女はボーイフレンドに会う約束を破った。 この例文で使用されている「to」以下はpromiseを修飾、説明している のは明らかで、参考書にもそのように書いてありました。 しかし、もしこの文の前に「her promise」の内容が既出していた場合、 「to」を副詞的用法と考え、「彼女は約束を破って、ボーイフレンドに会った」という解釈が可能ではないかとおもいました。「文法的」にこのような解釈は可能でしょうか？ よろしくお願いいたします。

動名詞の使い方で質問があります。 Be careful dealing with him. (彼の扱いに注意しなさい） という例文があるのですが、 動名詞には（この場合dealing）不定詞の ような副詞的用法ってあるのでしょうか？ careful は形容詞なので通常は Be careful about になるのが普通だと 思うのですが、例文の場合文法的には どう解釈すればよいのでしょうか？ 詳しい方お願いいたします。

こんにちは。 高校の参考書を開いてみたら、so～that構文（～するほど～だ）の場合のthat内は、 節（S＋V)が入った例文しか載っていません。 しかし私が今日読んだ英文の中に、so～that to 不定詞の用法がありました。 こういう用例ってあるのかなぁと気になった次第です。 いつもなら、意味が（なんとなく）汲み取れればOKという英文読解をしていたのですが、 最近は文法を気にしながら英語を読み始めています。 なかなか、面白いものですね。 というわけで、英語達人の皆様、ご教授お願いいたします。

以下の文章に関する質問です。 We're never going to be perfect—if there is even such a thing. We're human,after all. Our pursuits should be aimed at progress, however little that it's possible for us to make. however little that it's possible for us to makeの文法が分からないです。 Howeverの用法は、[接続詞的に][however＋形/副＋主語＋動]だと思いますが、ここでは、 little の後にthatがあります。 it's possible for us to makeの表現の中に何か他の単語が入るように思えないです。なので、塊として理解しているのですが、そうなると、thatが分からないです。 これは、make little となっていて、little が形容詞や副詞の性質と代名詞の性質を兼ね備えている、その名詞的性質から関係代名詞のthat が使われている、もしくは、 however little (*progress is) *that it's possible for us to make という解釈なのかわからないです。 解説宜しくお願いします。
