keep isolation は 「孤独を保持する」 → 「孤独というものを手放さないようにする」 のように解釈することが可能になるように思われます。この場合の keep は他動詞の働きですね。 他方、keep in isolation ですと、後ろにある from the outside world と相まって、「孤独な状態を保つ」 → 「孤立した状態にする」 という意味合いが、すなおに感じ取れる気がいたします。この場合の keep は自動詞ですから、「ある状態に置かれている」 という感じとマッチするように思われます。 素人臭い回答ですが、何らかのご参考にでもなれば幸いです。

(1)he (2)it (3)that (4)which 文法問題でwhichを選ばす問題なのですが、whatのような気がしますが、選択肢にwhatはないし・・・whichであっているのか疑問です。本ではwhichはkept me from doing my homework.を指していると書かれていましたが、後ろの文もさせるのですか？？それと、whatには非制限用法はないのでしょうか。 what is worseの場合、wahtは後ろの文を指す非制限用法だと思うのですが。よろしくお願いします。
