As a child, I could never understand why grow-ups took dreaming so calmly while they made such a fuss about movies. について教えて下さい。 私の和訳は、 子供の頃、私はなぜ大人が夢を見てもとても落ち着いていた のか理解できなかった、一方で映画ではそのように興奮した。 なんとなく理解できるのですが、良くわからない点がいくつか あります。 ・whyですが、これは関係副詞という認識で良いでしょうか？ ・took dreaming so calmlyの和訳が分かりません。 私は、tookを受け入れたと訳しました。 なぜ、tookと過去形なのでしょうか？ couldが過去形だから時制の一致でしょうか？ ・ they made such a fuss about movies.の和訳も怪しいです。 彼らは、映画についてそのように興奮した。 と言う訳で良いでしょうか？ このmadeもやはりcouldの時制の一致で過去形なのでしょうか？ 以上、ご回答よろしくお願い致します。

No1回答者です。 英文の真意について再考したところ、夢は自分自身が想像する仮想世界の出来事であるのに対して、映画は他人が創作した仮想世界の出来事です。いずれも同じ仮想世界の出来事だから、自他の区別がつかない子供の頃は区別がつかなかった（大人になって漸く気付いた)。このような趣旨の文章であると考えられます。

文法は正しく理解なさっているようですが、読解力は私と同様、苦手のようです。でも参考までに訳してみます。 「子供の頃、私はどうして大人がどっきりするような夢を見ても冷静でいられるのに、映画となると大騒ぎするのか、訳が分からなかった。」というところでしょうか。
