Ifの用法と英語の省略
親が共働きだったため、兄弟の手で育てられた筆者の物語の中で If I am now a comparativery calm and placid person, able to cope tolerably well with those problems that life always presents us with, it is,I firmly believe,due to the fact that I was allowed to grow up without too much fuss being made of me. このような文ができきます。訳には 「私は今、どちらかといえば落ち着いた穏やかな人間で、 人生がいつも私たちに突きつける問題をまあまあ処理することができるが、それは、あまり かまいつけられずに大きくなることができたためだと強く信じている。」 とあります。質問は二つで、 ・ここでのifはもし～、～だとすればという条件の意味なのでしょうか？ つまり「私は今～処理することができるとすれば」の意味でしょうか？ ・without too much fuss being made of me. はThey made too much fuss of me.からToo much fuss was made of me. となったものを元とするとあるのですが、なぜbeingが必要なのでしょうか？ 過去分詞をつかってwithout too much fuss made of me.にはならないのでしょうか？ 長々となりましたがお願いします。

＞If I am now a comparativery calm and placid person,able to cope tolerably well with those problems that life always presents us with, it is,I firmly believe,due to the fact that I was allowed to grow up without too much fuss being made of me. １．ここでのifはもし～、～だとすればという条件の意味なのでしょうか？ つまり「私は今～処理することができるとすれば」の意味でしょうか？ いいえ、条件と言うよりも、一種の謙遜表現です。If（I can say） I am...のように、「と言えるとすれば」と解釈すると思います。 ２．without too much fuss being made of me.はThey made too much fuss of me.からToo much fuss was made of me.となったものを元とするとあるのですが、なぜbeingが必要なのでしょうか？ 確かに、The boy is liked by everybody.は、the boy liked by everybody になりますから、beingは必要ではないように見えますね。 でも、the boy being liked by everybodyは、現在分詞が入ることで、「実際にされているんだ」という生き生き感が出ます。そして、without the boy liked by everybody だと、「実際にみんなに好かれている少年なしで」のような意味になるのに対して、without the boy being liked ...なら、「その少年がみんなに好かれることなく」と言う意味を表すことが出来ます。つまり、「生き生き感」を否定しています。これと同じで、 without too much fuss being made of me は、「私について、大騒ぎがされることはなく」の意味になり、without too much fuss made of me は、「私についてされた大騒ぎなしで」の意味になります。

簡単に言えば、「being」をつけることで、「自分の経験」を他の人の経験とは異なったものだ、という意味を含ませていると言うことでしょうか。和文の方を見ても、「できたためだと強く信じている」となっていることから、そう考えることが出来ると思います。 付けなかったら、「他の人も経験してきたような、同じ事柄」を単に述べているだけとなって平凡な言い方になると思われます。あたかも、客観的な陳述になるという感じですね。「being」は、「一時的、特別な状況、個別的な」言い方を意味することが多いようです。

No.1/2のtaked4700です。ちょっと文章が悪いので、訂正させてください。 ＞＞ ＜＜のところが訂正部分です。 確かに、The boy is liked by everybody.は、the boy liked by everybody になりますから、beingは必要ではないように見えますね。 でも、the boy being liked by everybodyは、現在分詞が入ることで、「実際にされているんだ」という生き生き感が出ます。そして、without the boy liked by everybody だと、「＞＞現実に＜＜みんなに好かれている少年なしで」のような意味になるのに対して、without the boy being liked ...なら、「その少年がみんなに好かれることなく」と言う意味を表すことが出来ます。

No.1のtaked4700です。もう少し文法的な説明にすると、without too much fuss being made of me は、元々、without being made of me で、「私に付いてされることなしに」に意味上の主語 too much fuss が付いたものです。 I could reach there without being seen.で「見られずにそこへつくことが出来た」ですが、I could reach there without my dog being seen.で、「自分の犬を見られずに、そこへつくことが出来た」になるようなものです。

英語のエッセイを読んでいて訳せない文があります。 英文は以下のとおりです。 I was then,too,somuch an enemy to all constractions,that my masters could never prevail on me,by any persuasions or encouragements,to learn without book the common reles of grammar,in which they dispensed with me alone ,because they found I made a shift to do the usual exercises out of my own reading and observation. という文章です。 全体の訳もわからないのですが、特に分からない部分を箇条書きにします。 (1)I was then,too,somuch an enemy to all constractions,の後半 to all constractionのtoはas(～という)に置き換えてみて訳したほうがいいのでしょうか？ (2)by any persuasions or encouragements,to learn without book the common reles of grammar, 先頭のbyの訳し方は「～によって」？ですかね・・・。教えてください (3)in which they dispensed with me alone , in which の in は入らないような気がします。(その語の文のどの部分に入るのか分からないので) そこの文法的な役割も教えていただきたいです。 以外にも前置詞が英文では、重要ということに気づきました。 どなたかお力添えをよろしくお願いします。

なにを言ってるかわかりますか？ それは偽物みたいな事いってるけど、、。 ITS FAKE Some ones going to the trouble of trying to convince people otherwise, but if they really had that record for YEARS..... why was that web page just created a day ago? Makes No Sense, some people have way too much time on their hands, I wish you could pass some of that on me as I cant even find the crack of dawn if i was smiling at me in my face!!
