＜ランドール・メイド・ナイフ＞への発注法

アメリカのナイフメーカー、＜ランドール・メイド・ナイフ＞にナイフの特別注文をしたいのですが、日本では取次ぎ企業がなく、某ナイフ販売会社から、自分で直接にネットでの注文をするように言われました。しかし、あいにく私は英語が不得意で様々な辞書で調べながら、一応メールで伝えました。＜ランドール＞からの返信は以下の通りです。Unfortunately knife and sheath could not be supplied.　 Randall Made Knives 4857 S. 　こんにちは。 　返信の本文に続く連絡先以後に、かなり興味深い内容の注意書きが綴られています。 　Legal Noticeとあります。ただしこれ自体は私的な文書で、今回のメールのやり取りに利害行為が絡むとも思えないので、実際に法的な裏付けのある警告かどうかは判りません。ともあれ、「メールの内容を他人に伝えたり、コピーして配布したりしてはいかん」と言っていますね。ですからこれを従順に守るとするなら、この質問をしたこと自体に問題があることになります（それをご本人にわざわざ報告する人もいないでしょうから、まあ問題は無いと思いますが）。 　で、肝腎の注文希望に対しては既にお判りのように「ナイフもシースも提供できない」です。 　このナイフ・メーカーは個人工房でしょうか。どうやらRandallさんは人を見て注文を受けるかどうか判断をする筋の通った職人のようです。むやみやたらに注文を受けないのは自分の仕事が疎かになるのを避けたいためでしょう。 　この辺りから考えると、もし本当に欲しいと思うなら、自らOrlando, FL、フロリダ州のオーランドに出向いて、直接会わないと話にならないのではないかと感じます。しかもいきなり行っても会ってくれるかどうかは判りません。となるとかなり懇意にしている人の紹介が無いと駄目ということになるかもしれません。加えて上記のような警告文を記載してくるわけですから、その紹介者を見つけるのにも相当苦労しそうです。 　 　潔く諦めるか、たとえ10年20年が掛かろうと必ず伝手を見つけてRandall氏に辿り着くか。そのように理解するべきだと思います。 　注文書を書いて、金さえ出せば、それで創ってもらえると思うことは絶対にやめましょう。既にそのようなことをしてしまったので上記のような返事が来た可能性もあるのですが、であるとすると諦める方が良いのかもしれません。 　職人の中には、その人（注文主）を見て、体格や用途や性格に合わせた道具を作る人もいます。そういう人はナイフの世界には少なくないのではありませんか？　であるとすると、創ってもらうことは非常にむつかしい状況になっている、と感じないわけにはゆきません。
