原文に沿った訳を教えてください
日本の神話という本を読み始めたら、次の文に行き当たりました。 then something resembling reed shoots sprouted up. From these were born seven generations of gods. そのとき葦の若芽のような何かが芽生えた。そこから、神々の７世代が生まれた、と日本語訳を考えましたが、From以下の文で、Fromの訳し方とその場合の主語（どれが主語になるかもよくわかりません）をきっちりと押さえた直訳はどのようなものになりますか。受身になっているのもよくわかりません。

Fromは起源を表します。主語はseven generations of godsですね。動詞と主語が倒置されております。 be bornは「生まれる」で 必ず受身で使われます。bornはbear(産む)の過去分詞です。

意味がとれない箇所があるので質問します。 City born and city bred,I have always regarded the country as something you look at through a train window ; or something you occasionally visit during the weekend. 都会生まれ、都会育ちなので、私は常々、田舎は列車の窓から眺めるところ、あるいは週末にときどき行くところだと思っていた。 この文なのですが、はじめのCity born... の部分で困ってます。僕はこの箇所をregardedにかかる副詞（分詞構文）で意味上の主語をともなってるので独立分詞構文だと判断しました。 意味をとろうと思い、 City was born City was bred としたところ「都市が生まれ、都市が育てられる」としか意味が取れません。これでは文全体の意味がおかしいことは分かりますが、ここから進みません・・。 日本語から考えるのはあまり良くないですが、訳のような文はむしろ born and bred in the city ではないかと・・。 どなたかアドバイスお願いします。
