The flag on the roof always showed which way the wind was blowing. 上記英文の訳と、（which way the wind was blowingの）訳し方をお願いします。

屋根の上の旗は、どちらの方向から風が吹いているかを、いつも示していた。 ちょっとお化粧して、 屋根の上の旗は、どちらの方向から風が吹いているかを、いつも教えてくれた。 which way the wind was blowingが「どちらの方向から風が吹いているか」を意味します。

The snow blown by the wind was very cold. Often it was hard to see anything.という英文の訳が「風で飛ばされた雪がとても冷たかったんだ。たびたび激しくて何も見えなかった」となっているのですが、これだとhard は「風が激しい」という意味になっているのでしょうか？「見るのが困難だった」というように、it was hard to は「～するのが難しかった」という意味なのではないのでしょうか？
