ランダムハウス英語辞典のasの成句の中に、 as…as they come /as…as they make them {英話}この上なく…で,超… と出ていますが、 なぜこういう意味になるのでしょうか。 they come とか they make them は、この場合、 どういう意味なのでしょうか。

I'm a writer, I can float for hours on a word like "amethyst" or "broom" or the way so many words sound like what they are: "earth" so firm and basic, "air" so light, like a breath. この文なんですが、"the way so many words sound like what they are"の部分の文法構造と意味がわかりません。 "the way"は「～のように」、"what they are"は"what he used to be"のような「～であるところの・・・」という意味だと思いますが、このtheyは・・・wordsでしょうか？どちらにしろ文としての意味がわかりません。 the way, like, whatのような単語が並ぶとわけがわからなくなってしまいます・・・お力を貸していただけませんでしょうか。

I'd like to see them made to eat this. このmakeはどのような使い方になっているのでしょうか？ They are made to eat this. という使役のmakeの受け身だと思うのですが、 この文のようにThey are made to eat this.の部分が目的語になって使われる場合は、 areが取れてこの文のような形になるのですか？ 文全体の構造が良く理解できておりません。 目的語の部分が使役の受け身という形の例文も併せて教えて頂けると助かります。 どうぞよろしくお願いします。
