以下の英文で使わているbutの意味は？
以下の英文で使わているbutの意味はなんでしょうか？ I want a pony, but Dad says they're too much work. 話の流れからしてポニーが欲しいがパパが反対しているみたいな感じなのですがこの文の意味が良く解りません 働き過ぎるからだめ？何のことだか・・・ それと「,」で区切っている理由も合わせてよろしくお願いします

a good day's workって意味分かりますか？ 「良い日の労働」ではありません。「たっぷり一日分の仕事」です。普通、仕事が多いとき、ぼやいたりする台詞でもあります。 too much workも似たようなこと。a ponyを飼うのはtoo much workだ、すなわち、世話が大変すぎると言っているのです。だから嫌だ、飼うのは反対だ、と父親は言っているということです。 butが文中に出て来るときは、ほとんどの場合は「,」で区切ります。そうするものだ、と思って気にしないことです。 ちなみに英作文では、andの前に「,」を入れるかどうか、判断に困ることがよくあります。

こんばんは。以下の英文について2つ質問があります。 What do they think they're doing, keeping a thing like that locked up in a school? 1) 前半の、「What do they think they're doing」は 「彼らは何をしようと考えているのでしょうか？」と 言う文だと思うのですが、なぜ「Do they think what they're doing」とならないのでしょうか？ 2) 「that locked up in a school」は「学校に閉じ込め られているそれ」という意味だと思うのですが、 「up」がなぜあるのかよく分かりません。「up」は副 詞で省略可能だと思いますがあるのとないのとではど のような違いが生じるのでしょうか？ よろしくおねがいします!

アメリカのネットショップで小物を複数購入しました。ですがいくつか買ってない物が入っていました。相手にその事を伝えたら下記のような返事をもらいました。すみませんが意味を教えてくれませんか？お願いします。 thank you very much for this. I am still awaiting a message from 発送業者名. I will surely forward them your email to let them know about this. These bags are definitely not ours. When I have spoken to 発送業者名 they told me that they had to re-package the cartons so I am 100% sure they made a huge mistake there and send 2 wrong cartons. Please bare with me. For your next shipment I will not be using this company as I do not want something like this happening again and I am sure you do not want this either.
