英語では同じ名詞を表現するときは、2回目から代名詞を使います。単数名詞の時は、it か one になります。二つの違いは itを使えば、最初に使った名詞のことを指します one を使えば最初に使った名詞と同じ種類を指します A: I bought a watch yessterday. 昨日時計を買ったんだ B: I want to buy one. 私も時計を買いたいな one は a watch を指します。この場合、itは使えません。it を使えば、Ａさんの買った時計を買いたい という意味になるからです it＝the + 単数名詞 one＝a + 単数名詞と理解してください だから、例文のone は a school marathon の意味で使われています
