thinkと feelの動詞の性質の違いによるものです。 この文章を肯定文にして、仮に「私はそれを素敵(な部屋)だと思う」と言う文章を作ってみましょう。 I feel it nice.：構文はSVOCで、Cの部分は形容詞がきて名詞や副詞がくることはありません。 I think (of) it (to be) a nice room.：構文は同上のSVOCですが、Cの部分は名詞がきて形容詞のみがくることはありません（例えto beで補足されても）。 つぎにHowとWhatの働きについて見てみましょう。 「How do you feel it?」の中ではHowは疑問詞の「形容詞的用法」で、SVOCのCにあたり、求めている答えは形容詞の返事です。nice, fine, badなど。 「What do you think of it?」ではWhatは疑問詞の「名詞的用法」で、SVOCのCにあたり、求めている答えは名詞になります。nice room, good opinionなど。肯定文ではthink ofのofが省略されることがありますが、疑問文では語感・慣習によるものだと思うのですが、省略されることはないようです。 参考になるといいですが。

ある人から指摘を受けて What do you think about it? という言い方はしない。 What do you think of it? といいなさい。 しかし、ある人は What do you think about it? の方が正しい英文だと言います。 つまり、米国英語では死語になってしまったのでしょうか？ また、保守的な英国では、What do you think of it?みたいな米国英語はよろしくないというのでしょうか？

how 、whatについて私の見解は正しいでしょうか、間違ってるでしょうか？ 例えば、You think it beautiful. という文を疑問文にした場合、疑問の対象がit の場合の文は What do you think beautiful? beautifulを対象にした文は What do you think it? でいいのでしょうか？ でもしYou surely think it beautiful .(不自然な感じかもしれませんがhowの使い方をしりたくて） といった場合でsurelyを疑問の対象にした場合は How do you think it beautiful? でいいのでしょうか？ もし上記が成り立ってる場合は、対象がit＝名詞、beautiful＝形容詞のときはwhat,副詞の時はhowを使うと考えていいのですか？

(1)How about you? と What about you? は同じと理解していますが，もし違いがあれば教えてください。 (2)それと，「どう思う？」は， What do you think? であって How do you think? ではないと，今まで思っていましたが， 最近，How do you think? と書かれているのを見かけました。 どちらでもいいのでしょうか。 それとも何か違いがあるのでしょうか。 よろしくお願いします。
