以下の文の構造がよくわかりません。 Circumduction is often a patient response to a prosthesis that is too long, or behaving in a way that makes it too long. １：itはprosthesisですよね。（実際に義足の長さが長いわけではないがそれと同じような現象が現れる） ２：behaveの主語はpatientですか。prosthesisですか。 もし、patientだとすると、patientの行為が義足の長さを長くするようなことになりおかしいです（というか、そういうケースもあるんですが、多くは義足自体に問題がある）。もし、prosthesisだとすると、どうしてitなんでしょう。itselfならわかりますが。

NHK実践ビジネス英語2017年12月号Lesson17(5)のCollinsさんの台詞からです。 It makes it more likely that mothers will breastfeed and that they'll stay working at the company. 「休暇を取ると、母親が母乳で育てる傾向も、その会社で働き続ける傾向も高まるからです。」 ここで使われているmore likelyはless likelyと共に割合登場しますが、It makes it more likely thatという表現が面白いので調べて見たら、この講座では、調べた範囲では2度目の登場でした。同様の表現では、more likelyに代わってeasy/easier, hard/harderがありますし、主語は、指示代名詞thatや関係代名詞whatを含めthe+名詞もあります。 主語の”It”は先行する文の中の”taking time off”だと思いますが、目的語の”it”はいわゆる形式目的語で後述のthat節を代表するものかと思います。ここではthat A and that Bと2つの名詞節を代表しているので珍しい気がします。複数でも”it”でいいのでしょうか？ [質問] 普通、休暇というと1日単位（最近は半日休暇やフレックスもあるようです）が多いと思いますが、taking time offと言う表現は、多少、「時間休暇」を意識したものなのでしょうか？ take time off (…するために)暇を作る、時間をさいて(…を)する @Weblio辞書 最初のthat節”mothers will breastfeed”ですが、最近、企業では時間休暇制度を採用するところも出ているそうです。ここで敢えて”taking time off”を採用したのは、そうした含みを持たせようとしているのでしょうか？テキスト訳では「休暇を取る」となっていますので、判断できませんでした。また、ぴったりの出展文献は見つかりませんでした。 Collins: Actually, studies show that taking time off is good for parents and employers － not to mention babies.
