● 問題の英文を完成させる過程を以下のように列記してみました。列記した各英文に文法上の際立ったまちがいはないと、私は思います。 (1) A cup of coffee costs much. 1杯 のコーヒーは費用がたくさんかかります。 ↓ (2) A cup of coffee costs much here. この地では 1杯 のコーヒーは費用がたくさんかかります。 ↓ (3) A cup of coffee costs as much here. この地では 1杯 のコーヒーは費用が「 特定の額 」かかります。 ( as が much を修飾すると、much は「 額 ( すなわち量 ) 」の意になる。as は副詞 ) ↓ (4) A cup of coffee costs twice as much here. この地では 1杯 のコーヒーは費用が「 2倍 の『 特定の額 』」かかります。 ↓ (5) A cup of coffee costs twice as much here as it does in Canada. この地では 1杯 のコーヒーは費用が「 2倍 の『 特定の額 』」かかります。「 特定の額 」とは、カナダでの額です。 ( 2番目 の as は接続詞もしくは関係副詞だそうです ) ● (3) (4) (5) で as much を「 特定の額 」と、私は強引に和訳しました。この「 特定の額 」の具体的数値を示すヒントが 2番目 の as より右に記されていると、私はかってに解釈しています。 (5) を普通の日本語になおせば「 この地における 1杯 のコーヒーの値段は、カナダの 2倍 です 」などとなるのではないでしょうか。 ● 私のこのアドバイスが的はずれでしたら、ごめんなさい。

みなさん、英語についての質問です！ たった一言なのですが、うまく思いつきません。 わかる方、どうかお助けください！ マクドナルドなどで、二倍のケチャップをバーガーにつけて下さい。 と言いたいのですが、どのように言えば良いでしょうか？ Would you spread ketchup twice on the burger? Would you spread twice the much of a normal volume of ketchup on the burger? などでよろしいのでしょうか？なにか、しっくりきません… ちなみにこれが４倍だとどうなるかも教えてくれたら幸いです！ Would you spread 4 times as much ketchup as a normal volume of it on the burger? 長いです。文法もあたってるかわかりません。 どうか！よろしくおねがいします!

Living as he does in suburb, he seldom have visitors. がなぜ「譲歩」のasにならずに「理由」になるのかがわかりません。 確かに主節の文脈を見ればわかるのですが。。。 doesはlivingの代動詞と参考書に書いてありますが、このような表現 が出来た根拠が知りたいです。分詞構文なら普通に Living in suburb, he～ではダメなのでしょうか。 同時に Written as it is in easy English,the book suitable for beginers も文脈ではわかるのですが、「譲歩」ではなく「理由」のasになるのも納得ができません。 X + as S + VでＸが元の節中の位置から文頭に出ると「譲歩」になる と学んだので納得がいきません。writtenがisの後ろにあったもの と聞きましたが文頭にわざわざ置く意味も謎です。 さらにLiving as it is ～やWritten as it doesではダメだと 言われましたがなぜでしょうか。覚えろと言われましたがこのような特殊な構文の経緯を知っている詳しい方解説を何卒お願いします。 納得して覚えたいので詳しくお願いします。

なるほどーーー！！！！！ありがとうございます！何度もアドバイス頂いて感謝です。とても飲み込みが悪くてすみません。 でも、理解できました！どうしてもas asとしか見れなかったのですが、それとは違うと言う解釈でいいんですよね？ はじめのasは特定の額を表していて、２番目のasは訳さないで接続詞と言うことですよね？でも、それならasを使わなくてもいいのにとか思ってしまいますが、そういうルールなのですよね。 as much となる事で特定の額になると理解すればいいのですよね。 丁寧にアドバイス頂き感謝です！
