＃１です。なるほど、＃２さんのご回答がビンゴですね。解釈違いをしてしまいました。 Except (that) "browse" is ....となっていて、接続詞と考えられる except でした。 「"browse"って草を食べる牛の場合とか本を立ち読みする人の場合に、のんびり・ゆっくりって感じで使われるけど、私がした"browse"は［そんなんじゃなくて］熱中か偏執か分からないものだった」 くらいに拡大解釈できますかね。
