心臓病
I'm having some health challenges (cardiovascular/heart and legs) I might be facing hospitalization in the near future, perhaps bypass surgery, but I'm not certain on that yet. I have a doctor's appointment this morning. I will try and keep in touch as best as I can. 友人からのメールの一部なのですが、心臓の血管を患っているということは分かったのですが、具体的にどんな病気が想定されるでしょうか。 バイパス手術を受けるかもしれないと言っていますが、検査結果次第では、友人とも連絡がとれそうにありません。 心臓と足にも影響する病気（？）とはどんなものでしょうか。 Yahoo USAでも検索しましたが、同じ症状を持つ人がいるようです。足と心臓に同時にトラブルが発生しているようです。 なお友人は６０歳の男性で、アメリカ人にありがちな肥満ぎみの体型です。

狭心症と閉塞性動脈硬化症のことではないでしょうか？ 狭心症は、心臓に血を送っている、冠動脈という血管が狭くなっている状態で、閉塞性動脈硬化症というのは動脈硬化などで足への血管が狭くなっている状態です。これらの病気はどちらも動脈硬化が進んでいる人に多いので、その両方の病気を持っている患者さんもおおぜいいらっしゃいます。 どちらの病気も必ずしもバイパス手術は必要とするわけではありません。手や足の動脈からカテーテルという管をいれて、風船で膨らませたり、ステントという金網を血管の中に留置することによって治療することもあります。 それができない場合（たとえば、狭心症の場合、3つの冠動脈がすべて狭くなっている場合や、左の冠動脈の根元の部分が狭くなっている場合など）はバイパス手術を行うことになります。

その友人はcoronary heart disease, deep vein thrombosis を患っているようです。足の静脈にできた血の塊が心臓に上っていきそこで血管とつまらせる症状です。

その後、手の不快感まで患って、本人はパニック気味でしたが、 緊急を要する手術は免れたようです。 私は、日本の神社で祈祷してもらってお札（おふだ）も送りました。 友人はキリスト教徒です。神様を信じない私ですが、少なくとも心は通じると思います。 今は、手術の必要もなくなり、落ち着いています。 返事が遅くなって申し訳ありませんでしたが、 皆さんの回答に感謝しています。 本当にありがとうございました。

どうやらご指摘の症状に間違いないようです。 昨日、今度は足ではなく、両腕の不快感がひどくなってきたので、病院に行くと言っていました。恐らく入院することになるでしょう。 メールでの連絡が取れなくなるので、現地（フロリダ州）の病院の連絡先と、彼の妹と友人のメールアドレスを教えてくれました。今後は、その人たちを通じて状況を教えてもらうことになります。 ご回答ありがとうございました。
