英語学習初級レベルの為 例文や簡単な解説で説明頂けると助かります。 I read the news that some visitors from another country did not know that and did it in front of people then arrested. この文章の始めのthatは接続詞で２個目のthatは関係代名詞でしょうか？ ２個目のthatの使い方がどのような役割をしているのか わかりません・・・。 説明がうまくできないのですが ２個目のthatがなくandだけだと意味が変わるのでしょうか？

とりあえず、文法がわかりやすいように日本語に直訳すると、 『私は新聞で読んだ(以下、1つ目のthatの中身)「訪問者の中にはそのこと(2つ目のthat)を知らず、人々の前でそれ(it)をして逮捕されたひとがいる」。』 となります。1つ目のthatは関係代名詞、2つ目のthatは目的語としての「それ(その国で違法行為となること)」です。 もうちょっと日本語らしく翻訳すると以下のようになります。 『私は訪問者の中にはそのことを知らず、人々の前でそれをやって逮捕された人がいるとニュースで読んだ』 1つ目のthatは「ニュースに書かれていた内容」を指していて、2つ目は「それが違法な行為であること(その行為の内容が先述されているはず)」を指しています。 1つ目のthatは省略可能ですが、2つ目は目的語なので省略できません。

ややマニアックな質問ですが，複数の辞書の例文でも判断がつかず，お願いします。 口語では接続詞thatはよく省略されるという規則は知られていることですが，逆に，thatを省略しない方がよい英文パターンなどはございますか？ 例えば，Did you know that that car was ...?など，thatが２つ並ぶと語呂が悪いので接続詞thatは省かれる などは，説得力があります。 その逆の接続詞thatがあったほうがしっくりくる文など，規則性でなくても，コロケーションや語呂的なもので全く構いませんので，例文があれば是非お願いします。（口語の場合でお願いします）

It is the only planet where we know that plants, animals, and people live. という文がありました。２文目の we know that の that は省略しないといけないのではないでしょうか？ He is the man who I thought was honest. のような文では、I thought that の that は省略されるはずです。これは、あとに was という動詞が来ているから省略なのでしょうか？ 後にSVが続いていたら、省略しなくていいのでしょうか？ また、最初の文のように関係代名詞ではなく、関係副詞のときは省略しなくてもいいのでしょうか？
